# 5-19: The Horn of Aroden, with GM Pendrak (Inactive)

Game Master Pendrak

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

For months Taldor faction leader Lady Gloriana Morilla has mustered a small army to aid the Mendevian Crusade; however, without a powerful, unifying icon to rally around, progress is slow. When her agents learned of a dormant relic that might be awakened, she petitioned the Pathfinder Society for its aid in recovering this so-called Horn of Aroden, knowing that the Society would benefit from her army’s hastened arrival. The PCs travel to Brevoy, a fragmented land of dueling, cold, and conquest to secure this horn, though in doing so they join an ongoing plot of politics and intrigue.

Content in “The Horn of Aroden” also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline of the Taldor faction.

You follow the path for about two miles. The deer trail winds past a large pond fed by a spring. Reeds and sedges grow around the pond, and piping birds are audible over the gurgling of running water. The pond drains from a stream flowing southwards. A section of grasses has been cleared away near the north edge of the pond, revealing a small fire pit caked with ashes.

Wadi mentioned treading lightly. Do you wish to travel stealthily as a group as you follow the deer trail? If so, give me Stealth checks.

As you come into view of the pond, several rough looking men, bandits by their appearance, step forward, weapons drawn.

"Get 'em, boys! If they're as loaded as that last fop we'll all be rich! For the mistress!" cries the man who appears to be the leader, a tall, thin, ruddy-faced man who walks with a slight limp and sports a long, greasy mustache. He charges forward at Wei-Lung, heavy mace in one hand, light mace in the other, and wallops the monk across the shoulder with a painful blow.

The other bandits loose arrows, which miss. They toss their bows aside, and move forward, drawing their own heavy maces.

"Well any who bear the mark here are suspect," Wadi replies thoughtfully, "Plus the Mistress of the Moon would know for sure. In any event should she be indeed a lycanthrope then she needs to be exterminated," he finishes grimly.

Mummy's Mask~Kingmaker ~Strange Aeons ~ Fallen Family, Broken Name I ~ Fallen Family, Broken Name II ~ Border of War

Leaving the other bandits tied to trees at the watering hole to be dealt with later, the Pathfinders set out following the trail. After about three miles they reach the bandit camp.

A half-dozen tents form a semi-circle around a large fire pit in this clearing on a hillside. The smell of roasting meat wafts through the air, and a plume of smoke rises from the fire. Several large barrels sit beside the opening of the largest of the tents.

Their attempts at approaching stealthily seem to have been foiled. As they come walking up, several creatures walk toward them from the camp. Two are humans, smiling bandits who seem eager to fight. One is a massive dire wolf, ten foot long, with eyes full of cunning, and scars that have torn away most of its lips. The last, a red-furred wolf-woman wearing a suit of stained chainmail and wielding a long sword, can only be the so-called Mistress of the Moon, Aldona.

Aldona pats the dire wolf on it's head. "Look, Grinner," she growls, dropping a potion vial, wiping her maw, and putting her other hand on her sword, "We didn't have to go hunting after all. Lunch came to us."

Aldona: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

She charges forward, supernaturally fast, and slashes Maanyatha across the neck with a vicious blow, snarling as she does.

Maanyatha takes 24 points of damage. Glorne, Wadi, and Maanyatha can act.

WAdi stumbles back away from the action clearly caught off guard by the sudden assault. Still thinking fast he points his finger at the Mistress and intones an incantation causting a reddish aura to engulf the feral woman!

"May I suggest you go on a diet?" He taunts the woman.

5' Step back.
Cast Spontaneous Immolation at the Mistress. The target takes 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2) = 8 points of fire damage and catches on fire. A successful DC 16 Fort save reduces this damage by half and prevents the target from catching on fire. Each round on your turn, a burning target can attempt a DC 16 Reflex save to extinguish the flames; otherwise it takes another 1d6 fire damage.

Glorne moves(2 squares North, then 1 square NE) with the pale, cool mist that clings to his body flaring in intensity as a blade of pure cold forms in his hands. he then strikes at the Mistress.

Since it’s part of another action (and isn’t an action itself), using this wild talent doesn’t provoke any additional attacks of opportunity. No, since she hadn’t acted in combat yet she didn’t get an attack of opportunity.

Green Brigand: Wadi or Graxzos?: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Violet Brigand: Wadi or Graxzos?: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Violet Brigand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d8 ⇒ 1

The nagaji nimbles steps back and slashes the werewolf with her naginata for a solid blow, but strangely some of the damage seems to immediately heal back.

The massive, prehistoric wolf moves forward with cunning and deadly purpose, and lunges at Wadi, who quickly dodges the bite.

The brigands stride forward and loose arrows at Graxzos and Wadi, but the shots miss, partially thanks to the cover provided by the front line.

Recap:
