Where it all began

Pathfinder Society

2/5

I just finished GMing my 1st PFS adventure; "#5-08 The Confirmation". I also just purchased my 2nd PFS adventure to run next month; "#6-10 The Wounded Wisp".

In the intro to The Confirmatiom, Kreighton Shane, Master of Scrolls, clearly states that the bar "The Pig's Paunch" is where the Pathfinder Society began.

However, in the intro to The Wounded Wisp it states that a bar named "The Wounded Wisp" is where the Pathfinder Society started.

So which is it?

BTW: Since The Confirmation was 1st and was written by Kyle Baird, my money's on it.

It's been stated that it is the Wounded Wisp not the Pig's Paunch.

As stated in the post that Barton linked a couple spots down from John, I agree with Big Norse Wolf, any interaction Kreighton Shane strikes me as he's constantly stoned.

I think John Compton speculated that they were doing a pub crawl when they founded the society...but yeah, Kreighton Shane has access to some high quality, black market alchemical concoctions.

I'm forever convinced there are two rival factions among the pathfinder society:

Those who say it was founded at Pig's Paunch, and those who say Wounded Wisp. Obviously we know where Shane and Dreng's allegiances lie. Janira Gavix is clearly a spy for one side, but who's is any guess.

It amuses me to imagine the rival gangs snapping their fingers and rumbling at every Grand Convocation.

No, it wasn't John, it was me that mentioned the pub crawl idea.

Then again, I think the primary deity of the Pathfinder Society is either Desna or Caydean Caillean. Or maybe we're all just drunk butterflies....

And, yes, wasn't Kreighton the fellow who researched Enhance Water?

In The Confirmation GM briefing it states that the Pig's Paunch is the current name for the bar that was once known as the Wounded Wisp.

edit: I lied. It was the first sentence of the Summary, but it didn't make it into the final product:

"The scenario begins in a tavern in the Merchant’s Quarter district of Absalom that was once known as the Wounded Wisp."

turned into:

"The scenario begins in a tavern in the Merchant’s Quarter district of Absalom."

Interesting. (Though I like the idea of Kreighton being too stoned to know the difference or Pathfinders having two bars one they tell the recruits about and the real one the vets know)
