ROTR - Harpy Monk, Zombie Horde + Toxic Cloud. Immunity and what that means.

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Playing Black Tower. Darago plays Toxic Cloud, then Olenjack draws a Harpy Monk on his explore. Everyone fails the wisdom check except Olenjack, who subsequently fails the combat check. Olenjack buries armor to deal with that.

Now, he explores again via blessing and draws Zombie Horde.

Does everyone besides Olenjack forgo the use of weapons/spells per the Harpy Monk, or was her power only related to her check? It didnt say this check, or until the end of the turn.

Lets say everyone can use weapons/spells: everyone still loses their combat check against the Zombie Minion due to Toxic Cloud, right? But to what extent? Can I still attempt combat checks and minimize damage (i.e. The Minion just remains undefeated due to immunity) or does the immunity to poison prevent any check against it because it'll always include the Toxic Clouds trait, and thus everyone takes 5 combat damage?

Not sure how to proceed.

Just for the duration of the encounter with the Harpy Monk. So you can play weapons and spells against the Zombies.

You attempt the combat check as if Toxic Cloud wasn't in play. Just don't add the dice or the traits from Toxic Cloud.

If the card you’re encountering states that it is immune to a particular trait, players may not play cards with the specified trait, use powers that would add that trait to the check, or roll dice with that trait during the encounter.

Nothing makes you auto-fail the check, you just don't get the trait or the dice from Toxic Cloud.

Sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for the quick response; did you see my Hawk-Signal over Gotham?

I almost missed the signal, because it is so cold outside right now and I didn't have my Special Super Thermal B Long Underwear for extreme cold and of course the anti-freeze capsule never does the job.
