The Talented Adventurers of SpirosBlaak is a pdf Rogue's Gallery of characters set in SpirosBlaak and Freeport. It uses the OGC Talented Guides from Rogue Genius Games. Characters will be presented from 1st to 20th level. The funds for the project go to help some my household, my friend's, and my sister's get through the end of the year. The bulk of the funds will go to my sister and her son, who suffered a house fire this June. They lost everything, including their family pets. My sister has a house now, but she could use help in getting some bills paid and I'd like her to be able to get her teenaged son something for Christmas, as well. I'd honestly like to be able to help her a great deal. She's disabled and is a single parent. Her son's father died 13 years ago in a vehicle accident with her son in the car. She's been through some very tough times, and could really use some help.
I've had several folks volunteer to create a character, including the Talented Guides creator, Owen K.C. Stephens. Other friends who've volunteered to help include: Mike Welham, Steven Helt, Rick Hershey, Thilo Graf, Mark Gedak of Purple Duck Games, Matt Stinson, Amanda Hamon, Jacob Blackmon, Andrew and Heleen Durston, and Robert Hudson, Jr. More folks may sign up.
I hope you find the product of interest.
This is a Christina Stiles Presents product. It is not affiliated with Rogue Genius Games, though it will be using OGC from RGG.

Btw, if you are thinking of signing up to do a character, characters would be due by January 31st. They'll use a template like Paizo's NPC Codex--I'm getting that pulled together by next weekend.
Also, I'm hoping the Talented Barbarian book will be out in time to add some of those in this product, as well.

Hi Christina,
I've spread the word on this over on my blog, The Grassy Gnoll. Don't know how much good it will do, as I don't exactly have a massive following, but I hope it helps a bit. I'll be pitching in as soon as I receive a couple of payments I'm due in the next few days.
Best of luck with it.

Quick question for you Christina. I can't say I know a lot about the setting of SpirosBlaak. Am I right in thinking that the setting has a Victorian gothic style horror bent to it? Zombies and vampires and werewolves oh my? The vibe I got was a kind of Pathfinderized Ravenloft, but I have no idea if that's accurate or not.
The reason I'm asking is that I'm wondering if a werewolf (or wereblooded if that's the PC version of them) spiritualist character of some kind wearing a tophat and waistcoat would fit in (I have kind of an obsession with dapper werewolf shamanistic characters, my all time favourite PC is one).
I've definitely got enough put aside for just the PDF, but if that's a character I can get built and added to the collection then I swear I'll try as hard as I can to stretch the budget to cover a $60 pledge. Can't guarantee I can do it due to having crashed my motorcycle a while ago (turns out that's an invitation to massive financial repercussions), but I'll give it a shot.

I’ve kicked in my own contribution, more for good-will’s sake than anything else, but I have to second Tinkergoth’s questions and concerns. I’d love to get a character into this product, but I only came to 3PPs after I made the jump to Pathfinder, and (with apologies to Green Ronin, Misfit Studios, and all others involved) the name ‘SpirosBlaak’ just doesn’t ring any bells with me at the moment. :-S
Glancing at the descriptions and previews here at Paizo and over on DriveThruRPG, I don’t know if the concept I have at the moment —

It is more dark fantasy than Victorian gothic, but I could see someone from the city of SpirosBlaak having a Victorian manner about him or her. Of course, the Spirans don't particularly like the weres. Now, a Faedian (naturalistic peoples of the Archduchy) who's taken to city living might be interesting. There aren't any Talented guides for shamanistic characters are the moment. It sounds like the character you want to make would be best suited to Wereblooded of SpirosBlaak, which was another project I did a call out for a few months ago. It's not finalized, if you'd rather your contribution go to that book. You have more leeway there with character class. Let me know if that's what you'd prefer. I have more wereblooded types available than what was listed in the first pdf, as well.
Btw, I'll work with anyone who isn't familiar with SpirosBlaak to fit their character concept in.
And so sorry about the motorcycle crash! Hope you are ok!

I'd say that concept would be most suited to the kav (lycanthropes). Sounds like a wererat to me!

Also, there isn't a Pathfinder version of this setting at this moment--it came out in the 3.5 heyday initially through Green Ronin/Bizzaro Games (the latter was my company then). Since then, it is with Misfit Studios, and we are in the process of getting it converted over. I've got materials at various stages at the moment that are waiting for me to free up time to dedicate to it. That's happening in early 2014, so stay tuned. Many of the races will come out first. and the Bite Me! line I'm doing ties into the setting.

SpirosBlaak could essentially be described as a storied setting between medieval dark fantasy, and Victoriana, rather akin to Ravenloft in many ways, though imho a tad bit more fantasyish - while we get black powder, once the gods have walked the lands and are bound into vulnerable vessels (if they die, the god's gone...), the was an age devoted to fighting the witchlords, there's a race of natural-born lycanthropes that is one of the primary antagonistic forces (and also available for PCs) and it was designed to fit into the same world as Freeport (and was mentioned as part of the Midgard-canon as well, if I'm not mistaken...) etc.
On a setting-scale: Less steampunky than Iron Kingdoms, more fantasy than Ravenloft, approximately on par with a gritty interpretation of Midgard regarding its level of "darkness". "Would fit 1:1 with Freeport's world/tech-level/culture" would probably describe it best. So yeah, it can be taken into a Ravenloftish direction, depending on your definition of what is Ravenloft, but I think it works better as a Thieves' World/Freeport-style setting.
In Ravenloft-lands - SpirosBlaak is closer in tone to Barovia than to Dementlieu, not yet Lamordia on a tech-level, though beyond medieval Barovia and approximately on par regarding Nova Vaasa and Borca regarding social structures/development.
Hope that helps!
EDIT: Triple-ninja'd by Christina. XD

Just made my contribution. However, I don't know enough to contribute a character.
Christina, have a safe and happy holidays. See you next year.
BTW I do have both the PDF and print of SpirosBlaak. I have given the PDF to my GM for him to look at including in our game. Also, looking forward to it being updated to Pathfinder rules.

Thanks for the answers Christina and End :) Unfortunately I'm not really familiar with Freeport or Midgard either. I always played homebrew until Pathfinder came along, now I play Golarion with elements of other settings.
I'll be able to sort out my contribution this afternoon, and I'll have a think about the character. I don't really mind which book it goes in, wherever it fits seems like a good option :)
Thanks for the concern about the crash as well. I actually came out of it remarkably well, just a broken toe and a lot of bruising. The real problem was getting the bike repaired and replacing all my gear, but it's almost there now.

Very nice to see charitable events up! Well, not the circumstances requiring it obviously, but the gesture itself. I'm a sucker for these kinds of things, trust me. I probably will not be able to donate much, but I'll try at least to donate something! Hopefully enough for the PDF, but if not, that's fine. The PDF would just be a bonus anyway! ;)
Also, hello everyone I know! :D

Ok, I think I have the sample character to everyone who signed up for them. If I missed you, let me know on message or email me at christinalstiles@gmail.com
The project is not too far away from the main goal I set, so please let anyone know about this product who may be interested. The product will how forward, either way, but It would be wonderful to help my sister further. Still, I am very elated so many of you have come forward to help! I look forward to seeing her smile from your gifts.

Huh. Hit the funding goal exactly. Good last minute effort. I hope it helps bring your sister and her son a merry Christmas Christina :)
EDIT: Just had a look at the funders. Looks like there's one amazingly generous backer who threw in an extra $130 after already pledging for $200 earlier. Now that's Christmas spirit!

Yes, someone has been QUITE generous--you missed a previous $100 from this person. I declare that individual the Godling of this project, with all the benefits therein!
I thank ALL of you for helping to make this a great Christmas for my sister and her son! She is going to flip for joy. :) You made this a very special holiday, and I can't thank you enough!
