Rappan Athuk and Cyclopean Deeps Subscriptions

Just to me you all know--RA is a little behind(issue 2) due to packing about 800 boxes the last 3 weekends for our SW kickstarter. Next issue will be April instead of March. The good news is that the CD series (issues 3-4) is ahead of schedule--3 is in layout and 4 is in editing--so likely a dual release in April, with another CD release in May.

Sorry for the delay on RA.

Bill

Appreciate the update....

Thanks for letting us know on RA. I think I can keep them busy in the mean time.

Is there any expected release date for the hardcover versions? I'm not likely to read these until then anyhow.

Sorry for the delay guys--btw--Steve--packed your stuff up this afternoon. The leather SW might be the nicest looking book we have ever made.

It's got some stiff competition. :)

I'm hoping they're proving popular enough that a leather bound edition of the campaign setting is feasible..

So still a bit confused here about both RA and CD Subscriptions...

So the RA I got from the Kickstarter I have a few questions..

I got both S&W and PF for RA they are supposed to average a new release PDF every 2 months? 6 total?

At the End (Around a year) I will get a Print book?

Hardcover or Softcover?

So for CD same questions

Is the subscription 12 new levels supposed to be over 2 years?

Woulds I get 2 Print Books or 1 with the 12 levels?

RA Subscription will be a total of 6 new levels (Bill's schedule of every other month got a little screwed up but the next one should be late April or May). At the end it will be hardcover

For CD if you got 1 year you will get one hard cover at the end. If you got 2 years you'll receive two hardcovers (1 for the first year and 1 for the second year).

Ok, I have CD 1 and CD 2 from the RA Kickstarter. Anyway I can start now without getting what I already have?

Dark Archive

Being away for a while, could someone explain Cyclopean Deeps Subscriptions?

What is it, how many levels, if I subscribe via frog god games, what does it include? Soft cover, hard cover? Is it akin to Slumbering Tsar where i could get the individual chapters and then buy a hardbound book at the end if I desire? I dont see much about it here or really much explination on FGG.

@Rachel - noticed that the download site you guys are using no longer has the files for Slumbering Tsar. Have you moved these to a new location?

Shadow Lodge

AJCarrington - If you download some of the files 3 times, they disappear.

carmachu - Working from memory here, so take with a grain of salt. - Cyclopean Deeps is a subscription consisting of 6 PDFs per year, natural dungeon levels that are set UNDER Rappan Athuk. At the end of the year, the six levels will be compiled into a hardcover. Tweleve levels / two hardcovers are currently planned.

If I dont buy the subscription, will the books be available to purchase in a year?

Shadow Lodge

Probably, although you'll need to confirm that with one of the Frogs.

Dark Archive

Ok will have to wait till they weigh in. Because I really dont care about PDF's

Thanks Kthulhu

After paying for CD 1&2 once through the RA Kickstarter not sure I want to pay for them again.

You want either the $60 or $100 option (from skeeter's link). The $75 option is the one which includes CD1&CD2.

Different covers, if you want to be all collectable-y

"Please note, those who participated in the Rappan Athuk Kickstarter at a certain pledge level did receive the first two modules as exclusive print copies. To receive the rest of the subscription you will need to order either the 1 yr sub or 2 yr sub. You will receive a repeat PDF of CD1 and CD2 and then the rest of the subscription. "

It appears that there will only be 4 or 10 new levels to me. Someone needs to make this clear.

Making it explicit can't hurt. Given the 1 year subscription is for 6 "new" levels, my reading is that it is CD3-CD8.

Dark Archive

Just noticed that CD3 is ready for download.

I think you are right. The fact I have 2 copies of CD 1 & 2 (one from the kickstarter and one from the subscription)in my account means to me that you get slightly less value for the CD sub if you are a kickstarter. Personally I am not bothered, the KS stuff was a bonus.

Pathfinder Rules Conversion, Frog God Games

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Guys' c'mon, seriously? We're not trying to put something into space here.

the subscription is for 6 books over a year, or 12 over 2 years.

If you joined the Kickstarter, you got an alternate cover for CD1 and CD2 as a bonus in one of the stretch goals.

We couldn't assume everyone was going to get in on the Kickstarter. So, the subscription is geared for people who came later. They shouldn't get penalized by missing out on the first two installments.

If you got these 2 as a bonus, and want to continue with the series, you need to buy the full subscription. Yes, you get another copy of CD1 and 2 (different cover, which may not matter to you if you are not a collector). If you somehow feel short-changed by getting an additional CD1 and 2, give them away. Sell them. Sell the Kickstarter copies with the alt cover on ebay to defer the costs. Give them to you kids to give to their friends.

I'm not trying to come off like a d!@#, or that I'm not appreciative of our fans (and you guys know we're fans of you too), but its just not as difficult as its being made out. We want you to have the material, but if its not a good fit for you, send us an email, and lets talk about it. We don't want to short-change anyone, you guys know that. We have done LOTS of work to help our customers feel they are getting a good value, and we will continue to do so. Many of you have Bill's direct email, form other times we've worked things out, so we're open to our fans.

blondefrog is probably going to go sideways at me for stating things like this, but sometimes you just gotta say what's on yer mind, ya know???

Sorry, skeeter. I didnt mean to suggest you were trying to pull a swifty. (Bill keeps sending me freebies every time I order something. Hardly in keeping with corporate shonks! :p)

I just meant that the description is a little ambiguous for those of us on the outside looking in. Explicitly labelling Year 1 as CD 1-6 and Year2 as CD 7-12 would be helpful I think (I for one had presumed it was 3-8 and 9-14 respectively).

Irrespective - I'm really looking forward to them! The Cyclopean Depths was one of the unexpected gems for me out of the Frog God's kickstarters last year. D1-3 were my first D&D modules ever and these took me right back...

VP Sales & Marketing, Frog God Games

okay I will try to make it even more clear on the website. At this point it is almost comical though. Someone asked the question, if you wait a year... Yes, if you wait a year you can just but the book Cyclopean Deep (Year 1 which will probably have some cool compilation title and will have CD1-6 in it, with the cool cover of the Cthulhu creature). If you wait two years you can buy both books (year 1 compilation and year 2 compilation) for a total of 12.

As for the Kickstarter, Skeeter is right. They were bonus as stretch goals and we are trying to make it work for all out there whether you participated or not in the kickstarter. We could have offered you an option to just buy CD3-CD6 with a print book at the end but the pricing would have been almost exactly the same since most of the cost is in the print portion of the book so it didn't make any sense and from a fulfillment standpoint it would have been a nightmare.

I hope that clears things up a bit.

Makes perfect sense, cheers. Sorry for being dense. :p

So I just realized that I haven't seen any new downloads for either RA or CD. Is this just me, or have the new materials stopped?

We ran into some issues, I'm getting things sorted out now, CD 4 coming soon, RA SUB 3 coming soon as well!

My bad.

Cool, looking forward to them :)

Hello Skeeter

I am changing out my isp and all my orders are tied to an email which will be going away. What is the best way to get my email address updated to a new one?

I sent bytes interactive an email, but no response. I was on the pre-order for Tsar, ToHC and the kickstarter for RA - all of which are tied to my old email address.

Cool! Looking forward to the next issue of RA.

I was actually able to get in touch with bytes interactive and they have my new email address. In addition I sent and email to TalesoftheFroggod with an email update but I haven't heard anything back. Just want to make sure that any further releases or updates tied to my account are directed to my new email address.

Thanks

Mmm you don't need access to the email to DL the files, the email is just a pass word really. As long as you keep checking it you won;t miss anything, just in case you can't get it changed for whatever reason.
