Changeling barbarian claws question...

Rules Questions

Shadow Lodge

If a changeling (2 claws doing 1d4+STR damage) at 2nd level takes the Claws rage power (2 claws doing 1d6+STE damage), would she normally do 1d4+STR, and then 1d8+STR when raging?
It makes sense to me since she already starts with claws where another barbarian wouldn't, but I'd like to get some other opinions.

Shadow Lodge

I would just assume she wouldn't be so lucky as to get claws that do 1d10+STR when raging. That seems just a little too good.

Nope. they dont stack in any way. You would get 2 sets of claws, 1 that deals 1d4 and another that deals 1d6 but since you only have 1 set of hands, you can only use one set of claws at a time. Do note however that the beast rage power says nothing about having to take the claws on your hands and not your feet. Technically you could put the second set of claws on your feet but your gm might not like that. Normally you can only use 1 set of claws at a time.

Shadow Lodge

Hmmm, the claws on feet idea opens up all sorts of possibilities....

oh yes... oh yes it does... you might want to look here if you are willing to risk you eyes to the FEAR rat.

It was a hideous creation spawned from the infernal depths of the most depraved and twisted gods of chaos. A fevered nightmare of twisted bones and mis-happened limbs fused together with primal energies turned cursed and ripped of meaning. I will describe it to you, but at the cost of the last shred of my sanity for to even mention its name is to invite dark horrors and an endless scratching sound. May I go mad and end my torment after this! To start at the tail is wise for he has two tails and tho they may each strangle the life from a foe or slice the arm off a friend they are the least dangerous of the beast. Preceding the tails is his feet, all six of them each tipped with long, deadly claws and foul poisons and encrusted with the blood of many, many a prey. Beware the claws! for even a single touch from his claws can rip your skin from your body and shred the remains in a heartbeat. Extruding from its gut and picking a bone out of his hideously large jaw is a tentacle of pure primal power that can cause those it comes in contact with to explode in a shower of acid and filth! Rather the lower jaw I should say, for erupting out of the creatures back is a second torso with a gibbering shrieking head. Thats right, two heads, two hearts, the beast so inured to pain that it is, it constantly heals damage as if the very power of chaos suffused its being. What goes on inside that creature is best uncontemplated for there are tales of malign tumors detaching and assaulting those it cannot reach and that would be few indeed for mighty wings spread out from its back. Angelic wings that the gods no doubt thought a sick joke to graft on and the only appealing thing of the whole lot. and lastly, most dreadfully, its hair screams a silent scream as hundreds of faces twist and turn all along its body in chorus to its baleful eyes. if you were to dare to inspect these faces closer, they lunge out at you throttling the very life from your doomed corpse!
The rat knows when its name is spoken! It comes for those that speaks that blasphemous name! Fear the rat! Fear Mordious!
Hes coming! Mordious is coming for you!

Clipping from the journal of Thames the Mad from his journeys to the chaos wastes and his eventual succumbing to madness.

Sorry I had to get a little in character there :P This it the character concept that spawned such a sorry tale, note that you can get 15 attacks with this. Also note that this is with the parasite head gaining a bite attack and altho it can, it is helpless so it cant actually attack with it.

F.E.A.R NatAttRat Mordious:
This is a ratkin alchemist (visectionist/beastmorph) 1-2, barbarian (wild rager/totem warrior) 3-4, alchemist 5-12, witch 13
Important feats, discoveries, powers ect
1-toothy trait, sharp claw feat, tail weapon, haste extract
2-feral mutagen (on your feet)
3-wild fighting (barbarian), extra discovery (vistigal arm)
4-lesser fiend totem
5-Extra rage power (lesser beast totem, on the 2 new arms)
6-vestigial arm
7-parasitic twin (not sure if this is legal, but it is another head)
8-tentacle discovery, fly 30 (average)
9-
10-
11-
12-fly 60 (good), pounce
13-prehensile hair
at 16 you can also gain demonic obedience (Lamashtu) to gain a secondary slam, real late, but interesting to note.

build:
So at level 1 you get 5 attacks
bite (1d6), slam (1d2), 2 claws(1d4), haste
Level 2 you get 7 attacks
2 claws (1d4)
Level 3 you get 8 attacks
Wild fighting (+1 on a full attack)
Level 4 you get 9 attacks
Gore (1d6)
Level 5 you get 10
Claw (1d4)
Level 6 you get 11
Claw (1d4)
Level 7 you get 12
bite (1d6) (if this is legal)
Level 8 you get 13
slam (1d3)
Level 12 you get pounce
Level 13 you get 14 attacks
hair (1d3)
level 16 you top out at 15 attacks
Teratoma (1d6)
Thats 13 natural attacks and 2 bonus attacks, 2 bite 6 claw 2 slam 1 gore 1 hair 1 teratoma, 1d2 2d3 6d4 4d6
Strong jaw turns that into 1d4 10d6 6d8

Interesting to note, you generally get 1 extra attack per level, tho if I was building this, I would probably space it out to gain better feats earlier.

Grand Lodge

Remember, the Changling's claws do piercing and slashing damage, which is different than the damage claws normally do.

Animal claws are always on the hands- feet natural attacks usually go by a different name... I just can't think of it right now. Talons maybe? Seems like overkill imo..

On the natural attacks side of things, have you thought about a bite or tail whip with the adopted trait?

To answer your original question, they would not stack in any way.

Grand Lodge

How does the adopted trait grant anyone a tail attack?

You may misunderstand the trait, as it grants access to a Race trait, not a Racial trait.

The Tusked trait will grant you a bite though.

Ah, thought tailwhip required a feat...(and I was thinking about heritage to qualify for the tail)

Sorry About that!

Grand Lodge

What tail whip?

You still have me confused.

I was the confused one. Tail blade, not tail whip.

Grand Lodge

Actually, as a Kobold, Human, or Scion of Humanity Aasamir, you can get a tail attack.
