Mods I am not sure where to post this. So if it's not the right place please send it to the right area.

Having finally decided to moving on and no longer support Palladium Books in anyway I have decided to sell of my entire PB books collection. I am not writing an entire list as that was at least 60-70+ books.

I had most of the HU books. All of the Dead Reign, PF. About 80-90% of the Rifts titles to date. Splicers, Systems Failure and others. Pretty much a alrge PB books collection.

I am not mailing or sending anything out. If you want to get them and live in Montreal I sold them to a place called le Valet De Coeur.

The link to their website: http://levalet.com/ To find their address simply click on contact us at the top of the screen. The store has a very large used section. With shelves and drawers located under the shleves for excess books. They maybe willing to ship outside of Canada. Call or email them to find out.

Care to share why you're no longer supporting Palladium Books? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

He probably had a lawsuit brought against him by Kevin Siembieda.

If he didn't, he will now.

I try not to buy anything new from Palladium if I can help it. There are always a ton of used books floating around. I'll buy their books new when they start acting right.

Acting right? Is there something I've missed? Last I heard there was some drama a few years ago. Has Siembeida succumbed to senile dementia?

I stopped listening to Metalica when they sued their fans to drum up publicity for their summer tour. I stopped supporting Palladium when I noticed websites I like coming down because of the angry fist shaking from Palladium.

If anyone had a reason to be IP gun shy, it's Kevin.
Just sayin'.

Palladium books are awesome and one of the best companies in the business along with Paizo. Home to Rifts, Palladium Fantasy, Heroes Unlimited, Ninjas And Superspies, Dead Reign, Beyond the Supernatural, Nightbane, Robotech, and After the Bomb games. They are like a family more than a gaming company. They have great books and games! They treat their fans well every christmas with the christmas grab bag deal, and Palladium open house party. Join them on Facebook, or check out www.palladiumbooks.com and get the books brand new!

Some family.

They might do better if they'd act like a gaming company.

Grand Lodge

Palladium must be the branch you suffer through once a year, while Paizo is the branch you do things with on the weekends.

They may not be perfect, but nothing is. Until you have all the facts, I suggest you hold your tongue.

Likewise.

I don't understand the Palladium hate either, but welcome to the internet.

Don't care what Kevin did, cause I remember a Hero's Unlimited Campaign that blew my mind for an entire summer.

11 of us and it never got slow. Mind blowing.

Brian E. Harris doesn't exactly seem rational on the subject, since in another thread he's accusing the Megaversal system (first used in the early 80s) of being a ripoff of the d20 system.

Wow. Really?

Robotech was the first RPG I ever played. Good times.

The people that know Palladium know what the situation is. I'm not going to waste time arguing with you. You can go to the website yourself, or to facebook and I'm not going to babysit you and provide you with any more information.

About damn time.

Good Lord man, it ain't that deep.

It's less about depth and more about quantity...

I'm just sayin'. You run into anti-fanboi's on the internet all the time. Legitimate complaints or no, the vitriol rarely matches the preceived wrongs done by person or company they're hating on.
I mean look at the Ryan Dancey hate crap on these boards. The guy can't post anything it seems without one or two people claiming he's the equivalent of gaming's Anti-Christ. You'd think the guy drove to someone's house and shot their dog.
People take the wierdest s$+$ personally, and I imagine the internet doesn't help much...

/end rant.

EDIT: Of course the reaction to it usually goes to the same extreme...

I'm like an Iron wall that keeps moving forward. These anti fanboys usually bounce off me or they get impaled by the iron spikes on my wall of doom.

Hey, I'm from the old school. I've been following Palladium sense the days of their greatness. They crapped all over their fans, threatening legal action, begging people to take their Palladium fan web pages down. The only reason why anyone is pissed at Palladium is because they are such pricks. The only reason why they are still around at all is because no other gaming company showed up that produced games that can take their place.

Palladium is basically just lucky.

I've been a fan of Palladium since 1992 and I've never seen any foul play, or rudeness by them. Kevin has always welcomed me, and even invited me to his office to sign some of my books. They break their backs for people, and people spit in their face. I really don't see where people are conjuring up all this automatic BS. They are still in business for a reason, and it's because they put out good products and are good to their fans.

Sovereign Court

I was on their forms briefly and it didn't seem like a nice place. Course this was shortly after the ruling that anyone trying to parry lasers had a flat -20 penalty. Basically a juicer and a 98 year old granny had the same chance to perry a laser, which I suppose was based on the reasoning that it's very hard to move faster then the speed of light, but this reasoning neglected the heightened senses of of a juicer, who certainly couldn't move faster then the speed of light, but might have been able to judge where the weapon was pointed and start to react before the shot was fired. Anyways I didn't like the atmosphere of their boards and I moved over to the WotC boards. They too seemed to have some issues. Then I came here. For the most part I like these boards better then any other gaming site I've been on. There are now some sections that I avoid (it seems getting popular brings in a wide group of people that don't always get along) but for the most part I've been happy here. As for Kevin or Palladium, well I've heard some stories, some of them not good, but I'm willing to assume the same thing could be said of just about any successful business. I did not like their forums but other then that I got nothing against Palladium. Course having said that I do have some problems with their combat system and I haven't played one of their games in years.

I agree Guy I don't like the Palladium forums either. There is alot of haters on there, and they just bring a negative vibe that bums me out. I like their website, but I stay away from their forums not because of Palladium, but because some of the fans on there. Some of those people on there forget that Palladium isn't a giant corporation, they are a small independent business that is in competition with others but also doing good for the whole RPG market. Another thing Kevin has stated recently on the Palladiumbooks Facebook page is that the rules are always customizable. They are there, but if someone wants to change or alter something Kevin welcomes it. They call it "house rules". This is what makes Palladium RPG's so flexible and awesome at the same time.

The Exchange

Now I feel bad about saying the OP got sued by Kevin.

Uhhh, no.

I said it SEEMED to be a ripoff of D&D mechanics - not d20.

There's a big difference there, considering that the system known as d20 didn't exist until D&D 3E, and Palladium was around longer than that.

I found it to be a similar setup, and that's what I said. But, hey, you know, irrational, woo.

Then you're willfully blind.

Did the "Crisis of Treachery" suck you in?

No, really.

Robotech is one of the few aspects of the Rifts stuff that works. Good stuff, that.

Robotech was only related to Rifts in a Megaverse sense. It existed before Rifts as an RPG.
But yes, it rocked much :P
I have all of the re-release stuff, and it's even better.

I came here from the Palladium forums myself.
It wasn't any worse than any other forum...unless you went there for the purpose of ragging on Palladium. This doesn't make sense to anyone there, and those folks aren't treated well.
But, some folks still did. Silly waste of time, that.

I lurked there quite a bit during a period of time when a friend was trying to run a Rifts game, and I was making an attempt to participate.

Definitely joining a forum for the sole purpose of bashing on the content that forum supports is tasteless and stupid - but those weren't the only people who weren't treated well.

I've seen more than a few threads get deleted and more than a few folks get banned for making ANY critical comments or questions or violating arbitrary unpublished rules that the staff didn't like.

I also recall quite an explosion around the time of the Dead Reign fiasco, and a lot of bad blood, deleted threads and banned users then, too.

It's not all roses, there.

Ahh, haven't been on there since dead reign was published. Splicers was the last new game when I was there.

There is always 2 sides to every story. I sat back and watched the Crises of Treachery, but I didn't donate a dime besides buying books because I knew the company would survive with the help from the army of fans they have. I'm not some sucker that just buys into anything. I do my research first and then present the facts. I don't try and sabotage companies, or call people insulting names. I am merely displaying the truth, and if you don't like that then you can put me on ignore.

Can't. No ignore feature. Sad panda.

"Dead Reign fiasco"? I seem to have missed something.

All I really know about Dead Reign is that it's Palladium's Zombie Apocalypse game and that none of the FLGS's in my area carried it.

I haven't played Dead Reign yet. It's their newest game, and all the reviews/comments I have read about it have been mostly positive. My local comic shop had it but it kept selling out so I could never get around to snatching it yet. I did pick up the Robotech game instead.

I always hated how they pigeonholed you into what seems like a very specific character notch. They always lacked in options In my opinion, You could hardly build the character you wanted (TMNT was an exception) because all the powers and gear was pretty much wrapped up into a class. Why the heck didn't they adopt a race system? What if i wanted a dwarf Juicer? Nope sorry only humans can get Juice Implants. You had to houserule the hell out of everything.

For such a vivid, Varied and well thought out fantasy world they sure neutered the players choices this makes all the characters seem Pre canned and bland.

ANd damn the power Creep. I remember an issue of the rifter i thumbed through casually and saw Ultra damage rules ind it took me several minutes to to realize it was a joke because thats seriously where i thought the game was going.

They did do some rules for non-human Juicers in the Juicer's Uprising book. Though you're right that Palladium does feel a lot like Basic D&D in regards to how it handles O.C.C.s and R.C.C.s.

As for multi-classing, I do remember reading it addressed in one of the books. I can't remember which one, but the argument put forth was essentially, "Yes, you could stop adventuring for the ten years or so it would take to learn a new O.C.C., but who'd want to do that?"

And ah yes, Rifter's April Fools issue. I always thought the Trickster O.C.C. they printed in it was pretty cool.

DR was the last in the Palladium screwing people over rumor mill. Supposedly Palladium filled a law suit against a 5 year old, but I don't know if that is true or not.

The DR thing from what I heard was that a couple of writers submitted the book, it was garbage, and the KS did so much editing that he thought he wrote it at the end.

Dead Reign repeats the same text over and over and over to where it seems like 2/3rds of the book is wasted paper.

Liberty's Edge

It was a combination of having to sell my books to get fast cash needed for two weddings and a general overal tiredness of hearing the same BS from the company. Yes PB is not a big company. Yet they keep saying that they need more money more fans to help them get out of the downward spiral the company is in. Yet change nothing at all. They held an in house poll where they asked their fans and mostly only their fans what they would like to see changed. Of course the results favored the "nothing changing anything" category. When their poll says that only 1% want to see a rules revison well I call that a biased poll to say the least. Im still a fam somewhat and may still get books later. Yet Im not swalling what Kevin tells me anymore without questioning it.

Im sure I will get told im a bad person for saying so and not a fan. Yet the hardcore fans of the company need to understand that not ever fan is like them or wants to be like them. If they had fans that were less forgiving and more critical then they would not be in the mess they are in. Make no mistake Palladium and by extension Kevin is the reason the company is in the siutation it is now.
