Pricing Eternal Wands

Rules Questions

Ok,
It's been awhile since I had to price anything. I'm putting together the pricing for Eternal Wands for my game, here's what I have, I think it's right.

Eternal Wand
An eternal wand is like a normal wand, but it doesn't run out of charges. Instead, it can be used twice per day.

Eternal Wand, Lesser
This is like an Eternal Wand, but can only be used once per day.

Eternal Wand, Greater
This is like an Eternal Wand, but can be used three times per day.

Prices (Lesser, Wand, Greater)
1 400 800 1200
2 2400 4800 7200
3 6000 12000 18000

Theoretically, it would continue....
4 11200 22400 33600
5 18000 36000 54000
6 26400 52800 79200
7 36400 72800 109200
8 48000 96000 144000
9 61200 122400 183600

Not sure if I want to have 4th or higher yet. This doesn't include any spells with costly material components, obviously. Those would increase by 50 times the cost of the material component (if I read the rules right).

Are you keeping the same limit of Arcane only and Max level of 3 (as compared to 4 for most wands)?

If memory serves the pricing for them was the same as a regular wand of that spell.

No, I plan on allowing divine too, I have no issue with a 1d6+1 Cure Light wand that works 1/2/3 times per day, or a Cure Moderate either. It steps on the 'Who plays the cleric' arguments. Then the rogue can play back up healer for some gold and UMD ranks.

I haven't decided what cap on level I'm gonna do yet. I'm leaning towards 3rd, but may go higher. Part of why I posted on here was to get feedback on that too.

Your numbers are correct. You are using the correct creation rules as follows:

First
Use-activated or continuous: Spell level x caster level x 2,000 gp
Second
Charges per day: Divide by (5 divided by charges per day)

Since they are not really wands you can make them of any level spell. So you can have an eternal wand of Time Stop useable at will. though it would cost 306,000gp pretty cheap for infinite time.

If I had to choose I would make wands command words rather than use activated and the multiple is then

spell level* caster level * 1800/5 * uses per day

So 10% cheaper. I believe that was the Eberron price too - from reading other forum posts. Not sure what "use" would activate a wand though use activated would allow silent activation which might be worth it.

However with either command word or use activated anyone could use them, so I would prefer to make them spell trigger items as a special effect and use one of those two prices.

Ok good, I thought I'd done it right.

As to the use/vs word activated. A wand is use activated, the use is you point it at the target and will it to activate (there might be some slight rubbing involved). An eternal wand would also be use activated, you point it at the target and will it to work. Similar to how a helm would work (you reach up and touch it and will it to activate), or any other use activated item. The important thing is, you have to be able to activate it (IE: Not tied up or paralyzed). The exact method of activation is up to you.

I remember someone once talked about having made a use activated item that was an old-style version of a blow-up doll (made out of leather with soybean meal for stuffing). You can imagine the method of activating the fireball spell inside it. :)
