I just recently purchased some of the Paizo map packs and I am now faced with the dilemma of how to store them and still keep them organized. So I figured I'd ask.
How does everybody keep their collections of map packs organized?
I bought a card storage file something like this one at my local Staples store. Add in some of those a-z dividers that I then pasted a label over and put the name of each map pack on, and you are set! Works like a charm. Except I now need to buy another because my first is full. :)

I use plastic sheets with four pockets (two on the front and two on the back side), normally used for collecting postcards.
These fit nicely into ringbinders and you can see all the maps.
It is even possible to set up to four map pieces in four sheetpockets so that you can see the whole assembled map.
Great when you search for something to use "on the fly"

I use some of that really good 3M packing tape (not the cheap Staples stuff) and tape them together on one side. That way I'm not scrambling to find the parts and put them together - this gets more significant as I get more and more of them. And with the tape on only one side, I can fold them if I need to.
Plus it makes the 2-part ones 8 1/2" x 11" so I can keep them in a folder (though I like Cyria's protector idea, have to steal that). The larger 4-sheet ones I just fold in half.

Since I glue all my maps together on black poster board using spray glue, I carry them in an art portfolio bag to keep them flat and protect their corners. I hate the way the light/thin tiles scoot around the table when in use, so the poster board adds both extra weight and holds the multi-tile maps together permanently (which saves a lot of time and frustration for me during the game).
Otherwise, I either pull out the ones I plan to use that night ahead of time, or rely on my general sorting method: town/city, country/woods, underground/dungeon, wagons/ships. I can find everything relatively fast just by cutting my search down to one of four stacks. I know my method will need revision as I get more sets, but so far so good.

Lisa's link has gone dead; here's a better one.

I bought the Gamemastery Treasure Chest boxes. Only $2. Two of them hold all but 2 of the Map Packs thus far. I've bought 4 Treasure Chest boxes and plan on just labeling them with which ones are on the inside. I like the idea of taping them together so that they fold down to 8 1/2 x 11. They would still fit in the boxes. You can even put flip-mats in them as well, though I don't.

Those are awesome ideas! I like the idea of having them organized in a file box. Some of them say they will hold 1000 cards, so given the fact that these are thicker than a usual card, I bet you can still fit 300 or so in there. I have easily that many, because when I try to carry them all, my speed drops to 20 feet.
I will give it a try and report back on the results. Thanks!

That link isn't working for me either.
Something like this? http://www.staples.com/Staples-5-x-8-Index-Card-File/product_662502?cmArea= SEARCH
Shield Knight: You can tape them together (I've done that with ones that are supposed to go together), just make sure you make a little space between the two cards so they can fold.

Nope... that's just one option, while my link will return a selection of options (currently 4, but this search will provide up-to-date results as their selection changes). However, it appears that you need to be assigned a session before my link works reliably... and they'll give you a session when it fails. So, click it once, and let it fail, and then click it again, and it will work.

Lots of great ideas! I use a couple of 5"x8" storage boxes to store my map packs as well (and they work great)...but I'm very interested in trying a plastic page-protector binder with 2-up 5" x 8" pockets like the one Cyria mentioned previously. I'm having a really hard time finding such a beast though. Can anyone help (...Cyria?)

Thanks for the link Geistlinger, that looks like the boxes that I am presently using. I'm still having trouble finding those special page protectors. I found some that were sized 5" x 8", but not a letter sized sheet with two pockets like Cyria described above. I really like the idea of being able to see 4 tiles at a time as you turn to a new 2 page spread in your binder. Oh well, the quest continues...

I think there was another thread about this that mentioned a photo album that worked. It was for 5x7 photos, but it had a enough space to allow the 5x8 tiles.
Thread is here.
Purchasing them through this link would help support PathfinderWiki.

I finally found 8.5"x11" 2-pocket sheets that should work. They've got a fancy name and lid flaps, but I haven't been able to find any plain old regular ones.

Hey Don, thanks for the link! I ended up buying mine from Staples. I really prefer to have stuff I can tuck into pockets and have in a binder. My wish is to have a binder with plenty of pawns for a given campaign plus whatever is desired for PCs, then maps in the same binder. Something light and tidy. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, folks! :)

I seem to remember that they discussed blank box sales. I don't recall the outcome.
I can say, though, that the new boxes don't fit in the 5x8 card storage files that Lisa linked in the second post, which makes me sad.
I think I'm going to be forced to trim the front and back off the box so that I can keep everything together in said files.

I just bought some plastic sheet protectors from Staples that fit 2 cards per page and you can double up front to back to fit 4 per page. They have flaps on top that I didn't think I'd like but they actually help keep everything secure and orderly.
They're called Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery secure-top sheet protectors, 8.5" x 11" (but they're actually 2 pockets of half that size), item code #14521. They're hole-punched so you can put them in a binder. I paid $3.99 (Canadian) for a 10-pack at Staples and that will hold 2 sets of maps. You can also get them in 5-packs.
I really like this product because I can see all my map cards easily simply by flipping through a binder. If I stored them in boxes I would never know what I have.
If you go here and type in #14521 it will take you to them: http://www.avery.ca

This is the Index Card File I got to store mine.
I use that exact same one, with A-Z tabbed dividers (originally letter-sized, cut down to 5.5x8 inches) with the name of the pack written on the face of the divider. The Army Camp pack is filed under A, for example.
