I just heard this on the Radio 5 minutes ago..to say I'm in a state of shock is to put it mildly.63 is no age at all..it makes the new series start all that more poignant.

I remember seeing the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes of Doctor Who when I was much younger, and enjoyed Elisabeth Sladen's portrayal of Sarah Jane Smith. She was willing to argue with the Doctor, and seemed to always find the will and the courage to face many strange situations. I enjoyed those episodes immensely, and was pleased to see her later work.

May Elisabeth Sladen rest in peace, and may her family, friends, and fans be comforted in their sorrow.
