All,
I've read throughout the forums various suggestions on which AP a group should run based on established preferences. With this in mind I'd like to ask for some suggestions as well.
I'm looking to start a 3.5 AP soon with my group and I believe I have narrowed it down to "Rise of the Rune Lords" or "Legacy of Fire". Based on any DM's experiences out there I have some specific questions regarding these (or any of the other 3.5 based) APs:
1. My group is currently finishing Savage Tide and the campaign before this one was "Expedition to the Demonweb Pits" by Wotc. Any DM's out there that know the details of these two adventures know they both have VERY similar endings, in that the players must build an unorthodox alliance to defeat a powerful Demonlord. I do not want the next AP my group does to resemble either ST or ETTDWP in this regard.
2. Any DM that is familiar with both ST or ETTDWP also knows the endgame of the adventures requires much plane hopping and planar diplomacy along with planar based combat. For our next campaign I would like to avoid this aspect as much as possible as well.
Keep in mind I have nothing against the above two items I just don't want to repeat them for a third time with my group. Those who know the details of the current 3.5 AP's please chime in with suggestions. Thanks.

"Rise of the Runelords" would be a bigger change-up, cibet44. There's no planes traveling at all.
Well... there is a little planes hoping, but it is an artificial plane... not like in those other adventures.
I would agree that RotRL is further away from the other two that you mentioned. Though fankly any of the current Pathfinder aps would be different enough I think (with the exception perhaps of Second Darkness).

Legacy of Fire has a trip to a prison plane, a visit to the elemental plane of fire, with alot of time being spent in the City of Brass.
From a plane jumping perspective, this might make your decision easy.
I have played the first 5 books of the Second darkness AP, and there is one small section where you visit the past in a pocket plane, but it is a very small portion of the whole so far.
I have not read RotRL or played in it, so I cant say anything on that one.
As for the unsteady alliance with a race that would normally demand instant death from life loving races, Second Darkness has that in a couple areas (although I dont know about the final book), and Legacy of Fire has nothing like that, although, depending on how the pc's act, it could be something that is nessasary in the later chapters of the AP to "win" in the finale.
I hope this helps.
