Alik ibn Palmsfire |

Alik prepares to lead the way as the hooded female rushes ahead. He was going to have to watch her.
Hefting his naginata, Alik heads for the closest entrance trusting his companions to follow and have his back. He proceeds carefully, his eyes darting everywhere. He tries to be especially vigilant regarding the shadows close to the trailblazing Ruika.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Jaykae Zerda |

Jaykae follows Alik as she had not been fast enough to be behind Ruika but that made it easier for them to be a bit better situated for how she and her twin did things. She tried to keep her attention on what they were doing and watched the dark areas in particular.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Mahorfeus |

There is not a creature in sight as you approach the forsaken edifice. Asides from numerous broken stained glass windows that are several feet off the ground, the two archways are the only visible entrance to the monastery. At a glance, you can see that they lead to the same area. Courtesy of the large gaping holes on the ceiling, the chamber is abundantly lit by sunlight. From outside you can make out what appear to be ruined pillars within.
Will figure out how to get the map working! Eventually!

Ruika Grumnash |

Walking through the arches Ruika stops and bows her head for a moment to the Goddess residing within the ruined walls.
"Alright, in you go..." she says quietly to herself.
She lets her eyes adjust to the darkness, picking up her small ginger fluffy friend and placing her gently out of harms way inside her backpack.
Thank you for the map Mahorfeus, and everyone we must position ourselves inside the monastery.
Move to (BG, -17)

Keiko Zerda. |

Keiko comes up behind Ruika and Corneilious, perhaps smart enough to hide behind them. "Oh, yeah. Together. That's a good idea. I mean, in the tales I've read, it's when people get separated that they get picked off one by one by a horrible monster, and it's usually the cute, fun-loving gal who gets brutally killed first."
Move to BF-17

Ruika Grumnash |

"You'll be safe. I'll protect you and Jaykae, there are predators about. Possibly after your body?" she looks around, her eye catches sight of the handsome cat-man. Then she straightens up and looks around the atrium of the temple.

Alik ibn Palmsfire |

Alik ponders the "dangers" the charming catfolk male holds for the (seemingly) scatterbrained twins. Chuckling, he moves into the space just before Ruika, gently pushing her aside to reach that protective position.
Meeting Ruika's hooded eye, Alik smiles and says, "I would prefer one with a strong arm that I have tested protect my back." He winks.

Jaykae Zerda |

"That is a good point, Kei!" Jaykae states then steps back so that Corneilious can be another protective body between herself and danger in the front. She looks to Ruika and smiles at her statement then glance at the cat man finding it rather amusing and somewhat embarrassing as well.

Mahorfeus |

Scrub brush and a light, patchy carpet of weeds invade the monastery through the two huge archways on the western wall. The exposed nave beyond is a huge hallway littered with bits of debris ranging from tiny rocks to enormous sections of collapsed masonry. Most of the roof above the long promenade is gone, but several jagged pillars remain.
Across the hall, you can see a large pair of wooden double doors. You also see that the northern end of the massive hallway seems to lead to another large chamber.
This will go round by round again, with some leeway on the actions you can take. There is a lot of detail that the map cannot show, so I will describe it as you come across it.

![]() |

Garruth noticing Ruika's look towards him smiles and gives a quick wave he either didn't hear the comment about him being a danger to the twins or chose not to acknowledge it.
Knowing that they should probably be a bit less noisy since who knows what could be behind the door, the catman stays quiet and moves up behind Corneilious with his back towards a run down column. He sees if his nose can pick up something that the man's ear didn't.
Using that snuffler: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Move to BM-16, perception check above is included +8 for detecting scents.

Mahorfeus |

I went ahead and moved Jaykae further in with you all.
The map cuts some of this detail off; my apologies.

Ruika Grumnash |

Her gruff voice rumbling lowly so it doesn't alert; "So we go through door or follow Keiko? Mustn't split up too far, my strength cannot cover excessive ground." she wonders.
The cowled figure starts to move towards the others, with a brief grateful glance at Jaykae for protecting their rear.

![]() |

Garruth leans in to whisper quietly to Corneilious probably not knowing what his sign means "I smell puggy wuggies close by, let me see if I can get a bead on them." He concentrates to see if he can pick out the direction the smell is coming from.
Move action to determine general direction of the smell

Corneilious Blackwall |

Alik ibn Palmsfire |

Seeing Corneilious' sign, Alik nods and lines up with the door. Holding his naginata like a spear, Alik prepares to charge the first enemy he sees once Corneilious either flings or kicks open the door.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Perception for best attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
14/14 HP

Ruika Grumnash |

Watching the posturing of the men, the usual psyching up to prepare them for facing their own mortality. Ruika however calls upon that silent part of herself, a wellspring of resolve deep within. Her hand slips to the small knife upon her belt, the plain hilt cool to the touch and handle carved for her dainty hand.
Slowly she circles to get a better angle of the doorway and archway.
Move to (BL, -15) & draw knife.

![]() |

Sniffing about Garruth nods mostly to himself and murmurs quietly so only those right next to him will hear "Yes, definitely puggy wuggies, a number of them... I can't say exactly how many, but quite close, probably right behind the door. Maybe we can jump in and take them by surprise." He draws his mace, though he'd prefer not to use it, he's not really the up close and personal type... well not in a fight anyway. the Catman stood poised ready to act when the door opened.
initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Mahorfeus |

Corneilious' boot crashes into the unlocked door, which in spite of its good condition, flies right off its rusted hinges. He lands on his feet with little issue, even as the door suddenly gives away. Otherwise intact, the heavy wooden door falls to the ground with a resounding thud, kicking up a small cloud of dust. With the portal open, you all catch the sound of incomprehensible chattering coming from within.
This large but plain interior hallway leads to the various chambers of the monastery's southern wing. A weatherworn statue of a winged woman stands in the middle of the hall.
Small voices, as well as the pattering of tiny feet, seem to be coming from the doorless aperture to the left...

Alik ibn Palmsfire |

Alik feels sluggish and snail-like compared to the wind-graced movements of the catfolk Garruth. Alik attempts to run into the newly opened hall and locate any of the bad luck causing impish creatures.
Mechanically Alik will take a Move action to run into the hall, and if spying an enemy, make an attack. If no enemy seen, then he will stop and take a new Perception. Let me know, so I can complete his action and roll.
Did Alik get anything off of that Perception check? Also, Alik should have been right in front of the door, no? The map has him still way off to the side despite my last post.

Mahorfeus |

Sorry. I was looking for coordinates, so I must have accidentally overlooked it - we'll just treat him as having moved as you intended. As for everything else, that won't come into play until a combat actually begins. Since you rolled initiative preemptively, I am holding onto your roll until such a time.

Ruika Grumnash |

She closes her eyes and visualises the nights sky, the moon that orbits and sharp stars. With a word and a gesture; some moving lights flicker into existance following Alik through the door.
The softly the cloaked figure places her backpack upon the ground, fingers fumbling with the clasps she opens it up. Reverentially and carefully she reaches inside, her soft gloves finding the material she requires.
Standard: Cast Dancing Lights on (BN, -15).
Move: Retrieve item from backpack

Jaykae Zerda |

Jaykae takes out her flute and watches as the others set up to go into the building. Her eyes half close as she waits for the others to go inside at which time she takes up the rear at BN-17 to watch behind and the front while playing her flute to inspire courage.

Corneilious Blackwall |

"Damn, My poor planning has given away our presence."
Corneilious takes a second to be mad at his misjudgment and then moves into the room to try and corner the enemy.
Move Action: Move into the room where the voices are coming from.
Standard Action: Attack anything that looks like an enemy. If there is nobody that looks threatening than I will not attack.
Unleashing the Bastard of Blackwall: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Mahorfeus |

Everybody asides from Alik, Corneilious, and Garruth can go ahead and roll initiative.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d1000 + 346 ⇒ (437) + 346 = 783
Actions already stated will comprise the first round, so I still need actions from Keiko and Garruth.

Ruika Grumnash |

The explosive entrance and the hulking prescence of the pair when they burst into the room, bring back memories of her clans men. The decisive actions taken by her tribe, their towering pride...
In the dark folds of her cowl she smiles, ready for action.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Keiko Zerda |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Anticipating combat, and since she sometimes ends up in closer range than her sister tends to, Keiko concentrates for a few moments to revert to her natural form so that even if her hands are carrying a bow, she has her teeth readied if anything gets up too close. It would be the first time she shifted among her travel companions. She raises her shortbow and follows Corneilious in.

Mahorfeus |

ROUND ONE
Garruth draws his light mace and prepares for battle.
Likewise, with shortbow in hand, Keiko sheds her human disguise.
Jaykae retrieves her flute and begins to inspire courage. 7/7 rounds; +1 morale bonus to saving throws against charms and fear, +1 competence bonus to attack rolls.
Taking the initiative, Corneilious moves to enter the room, with Keiko following closely behind him.
Beyond a doorless arch appears to be a large kitchen complete with walls lines in shelves and cupboards, in addition to an enormous oven against the north wall. Several drawers and cupboard doors stand askew, and the floor here is a jagged field of broken glass, smashed pottery, bits of sharp stone, jagged bones, and discarded cutlery. The floor in this area is difficult terrain.
Three pugwampis linger in the far corners of the room, standing atop the shelves. Each of them wield a tiny bow, nocked with equally tiny arrows. Upon seeing the inquisitor, the creatures begin to jeer at him incessantly in their incomprehensible language.
Ruika casts dancing lights, before setting down her pack to retrieve a stored item.
Lastly, Alik follows after the others, spotting the pugwampis in the kitchen as well.
Given the condition of the room, I did not resolve any actions indicating actual entry.
Garruth – 21
Pugwampi 3 – 21
Keiko – 19
Jaykae – 19
Pugwampi 2 – 15
Pugwampi 1 – 14
Corneilious – 13
Ruika – 10
Alik – 9
ROUND TWO START

![]() |

Garruth slips in past the broken in door taking a look into the kitchen area as he moves past the the others. Keiko gets a grin as the catman passes her in her vulpine form "Purrow, lookin good Keiko."
Stopping just past Keiko in the hall he addresses everyone nearby "You may want to keep out of the kitchen for a moment I'm going to try to cover most of it."
He starts the magic words and gestures needed in order to cast his spell.
Move to BQ-16 start full round action to cast sleep, from what I understand I should be able to start as my standard action and complete as my next turn standard action.

Ruika Grumnash |

'So she's a Shaman.' Ruika thinks slightly astonished at Keiko's transformation; 'Well that explains the musical ability, she's like a large Lyssa. I wonder if that's where she got the idea for her transformation from?'
Then reverentially, she pulls a heavy tapestry from her backpack. The vivid colours stark against her dark clothing - the scene and heraldry drawing the eye with bold patterns. However there are subtle undertones and delicate stitch-work to the cloth, the material seems to ripple as if an unknown wind disturbs the surface.
Boldly Ruika strides forward, following the course of her lights. The illumination flicking across the splendid shawl, or being lost in the deep folds of her cloak. She turns to look at the creatures of destruction; 'Such petty vandalism, pointless and ignorant. Anyone can destroy - but these creatures...'
"Acursed." her words reverberate with a hollow knell. Whether she is taking about the vicious and ill-fated beings, or mayhaps something else...
In the folds of her hood, gem-like eyes twinkle and secure the creatures fates.
Free: A pair Dancing Lights move to (BP, -14) & (BQ, -15)
Move: Ruika moves to (BP, -16) : if Free...
Standard: Evil Eye Hex: -2AC to Pugwampi 3 (or 1 or 2; if others dead). 7 Rounds unless make a Will Save DC 14 then it's 1 round.

Mahorfeus |

ROUND TWO PART ONE
Pugwampi 3 – 21
Keiko – 19
Jaykae – 19
Pugwampi 2 – 15
Pugwampi 1 – 14
Corneilious – 13
Ruika – 10
Alik – 9
Garruth moves closer to the room and begins to cast his sleep spell.
Seeing Corneilious, one of the pugwampis hops slightly closer and fires a an arrow at the inquisitor.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Shine on you, little guy!
Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Ooph.
Damage: 1d3 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2 Well, that would have been the least exciting crit ever.
Zipping through the air, the tiny arrow punctures Corneilious' neck. The toothpick barely penetrates his flesh, and does not even draw blood. Corneilious takes 1 point of nonlethal damage.

Jaykae Zerda |

While everyone else works on attacking the puggy wuggies Jaykae takes a different approach to the infiltration of the holy ground. She decides to cast Comprehend Languages so that she will know what the little creatures are up to so they can easily follow what they are saying.
I am not sure if she can do this at this moment. I assume that the inspire courage performance has completed and she can cast a spell. If not then please inform me.

Mahorfeus |

ROUND TWO PART TWO
Garruth – 21
Pugwampi 3 – 21
Keiko – 19
Jaykae – 19
Pugwampi 2 – 15
Pugwampi 1 – 14
Corneilious – 13
Ruika – 10
Alik – 9
Keiko nocks an arrow onto her bow, waiting for a clear line of sight.
Jaykae casts comprehend languages, allowing her to understand the pugwampis' chattering. Starting a performance is standard action, but maintaining it is a free one, so you're good. 6/7 rounds remaining.
For the most part, only obscenities and incessant cackling comes from their mouths.
Goaded on by its companion's successful hit, the second pugwampi lets out an arrow of its own.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Unfortunately for it, the projectile simply strikes the inquisitor's armor, literally bouncing off in the process.
The last pugwampi follows up with another arrow.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d3 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
This one's arrow flies true, finding a home in Corneilious' face. Corneilious takes 1 point of nonlethal damage.
Deciding to let Garruth's spell do the work, Corneilious moves further down the hallway in search of other threats.
Seeing that she has a clear shot, Keiko fires her arrow. The arrow strikes the tiny gremlin's side, drawing blood. Keiko's initiative moves below Corneilious'.
Garruth – 21
Pugwampi 3 – 21
Jaykae – 19
Pugwampi 2 – 15
Pugwampi 1 – 14
Corneilious – 13
Keiko – 12
Ruika – 10
Alik – 9
Ran out of time, will cover Ruika's action with Alik's to end the round - since her movement would end on Keiko's square, her action can be adjusted.
