"I am more then willing to do another job, after spending centuries in a musty library, getting out and stretching my abilities is good for me."

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

"Gladly will I listen to any news regarding going to war, but I will reserve my decision until after I have heard you out, as I am always one to make fully informed choices."

Vesta chuckles a bit. She enjoys Ignac's Bravado.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Ignac manages to glance over to Vesta, wondering why she was chuckling. ::She's definitely a strange one. Never mind, hopefully, this war shall provide some entertainment.:: Ignac faces the Shadow Claw again, awaiting a new assignment.

::(text):: will be personal thoughts for me from now on.

Minor Crab-beast

The Shadow Claw stretches out his spine languidly before nodding assent at the companions words "Very well, details can wait until the morrow - but the very balance of power within Geb is at stake. Your weal awaits in the chambers that have been prepared for you." a quick burst of telepathy flows from the ravener to each of you and you intimately know where to go within the lower chambers of the complex.

With that the wall fades back into being before you, leaving you with each others company once more.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

I forget what the weal is.

With a nod Vesta floats away and out of the room. She then heads to her weal.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

::I don't recall my weal being able to fit into a single room, but I trust him. Still, quite strange.::

Ignac will, nevertheless, proceed to his weal.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

After being dismissed, I trot quickly to the room indicated. Barely containing myself at that, to get my hands on my Phylanctery.

Vesta Shadowbane wrote:

Oh, My killer. lol. SOrry blonde moment'.

Vesta proceeds to the one that killed her. Talking to him about why and tourturing him sadistically.

Minor Crab-beast

Vesta finds a man lashed to a hanging pole in an otherwise empty cell, he is naked bar a death shroud upon his head. Instinctively cringing in fear as your ghostly presence enters the room, he can offer no resistance to your predations.

Daemon enters a small chamber to find his phylactery on a velvet cushion atop a small plinth. As you touch it, you feel empowered by the control you now have over your own destiny.
Daemon - you still need to chime in for what you'd like as a boon from the Shadow Claw

Ignac steps into an empty sparring chamber, somewhat confused as what awaits him is not what he envisaged. The chamber is empty except for a single weapon rack that bears only a single item. Nestled within the rack is an ancient looking bardiche, the haft made of ironwood - black as your soul. The blade that sits atop it is bronzed and weathered, on it's side is a motif of a wolf banner.

Ignac:
If you RP your initial reaction up to picking the weapon up - then I'll chime in with what sensations and thoughts flood your mind.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Ignac enters the chamber apprehensively, greatly confused by the solitary weapon. As he moves closer to examine the blade, he notes its excellent craftsmanship. Taking the haft in hand....

That's where you step in. :P

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

I thought that gaining my phylactery was my boon, or did i never really submit one when we started this quest? Really the only thing that Daemon craves is more knowledge/power, which is why he delved into both arcane and devine magic. So if there is a way too, boost/increase his power I guess that would be his requested boon.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Gabriel scuttles into the indicated room...

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

As Vesta enteres the indicated room she closes the door. Over the course of several hours Screams, both human and inhuman roll from the room puncuated by periods of utter silence.
After a time the door opens and Vesta emerges. She wears a black hood that covers her upper shoulders. As she steps into the hallway she throws the hood back to reveal a wicked satisfied smile. She then turns and floats down the hallway to her next destination.

The room is painted with blood and gore. The object that was originally a chair sits broken on the floor. Covered in unidentifiable gore. There is no discernable body to speak of. The remnants of the man. The one exception is the skin of the man's face pressed and frozen to the back wall. A statement to the fate of all betrayers.

Minor Crab-beast

As Ignac's hand closes around the bardiche's haft he is barely able to raise it from the weapon rack before his mind is overwhelmed with images...

Ignac:
A man in training, asked to select his weapon closes his fist around a wooden....
....bardiche is raised above his head, bloodied foes laid low. Wiping the steel clean on the armor of his fallen foe, his gaze rises to his...
...lord now on a warrior's throne, austere and functional. Warriors arrayed before him as the howl of ...
...wolves leap through the air and tear at the throats of the cyclopean enemies. Running through the field of battle towards the nearest foe polearm raised above your head and ready to swing in a brutal arc...
...down thumps the polearm's haft into the ground now sodden with blood. To your side the fallen foes are piled high and ready to be burned.

...and you feel a presence in the blade. Old, tired, still nascent and unaware.

Gabriel scuttles into the room and finds one of his fellow servitors to the Shadow Claw in attendance. He is an Elven high priest of Urgathoa, long in years but not yet turned to undeath. Speaking through thoughts You have pleased the Master claw, and he has asked me to aid in your .... release[/i] from the coils that bind. You would be free to soar beyond your means and wrest control of that which is not your own. If you are willing I can start the ritual?[/i]

Gabriel:
This is the ritual to allow you the hand-hopping ability

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Ignac stands, his own memories renewed by the memories instilled in the weapon. ::This weapon already feels familiar to me. Excellent. Although I know not what the Claw has in store for me, this is already worth the service I've performed.::

Telepathically, to the presence:
::Who are you? Why have you been given to me? Can you even hear me?::

Hopefully, it has telepathy, otherwise, I'm just thinking to myself.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

Gabriel waggles his fingers in a gesture of acquiescence.

By all means. Let us begin.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Just dotting to let you know I'm here.Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Minor Crab-beast

Still here too - just travelling around between different parts of the family and competing for computer time with an 82 year old grandmother who likes facebook games ;)
I second the holiday wishes of Vesta to all.

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Happy New Year!

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Soooo... What's happening/

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

I believe Voiceless is still on vacation for another few days, till the 14th or so? I think

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Ahh. Gotcha. no problem.

In the mean time Vesta will run Amok.

"skipping" along the street arms waving

"Amok! Amok! Amok!"

;-)

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I could've sworn it was the 11th, but whatever the date, he's still on vacation.

Minor Crab-beast

11th is correct, currently in the early morning just about to get on a 7 1/2 hour plane flight with a 3 year old :) - wish me luck

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

Have fun. :P

Gabriel's Ritual

The elvish high priest smiles and beckons you to stand before him in a prepared circle of power. Chanting in a language you recognize as partly elvish and partly something else. The braziers within the room flare and burn ever brighter as the chant continues. You feel a spectral presence in the room though you cannot see it, and it swirls closer to you dancing around you in a circle.

After a minute of this play the priest stops chanting and stares at you intently. Thrusting a hand forward into air he clenches a fist, and the spectral presence tightens around your essence holding it tight. The elf then smirks wickedly and tears his hand backwards. Although your physical body does not move, your very essence is torn free from its ties to your five digit vessel. Unconsciousness comes swiftly, a welcome release from the unimaginable pain the ritual inflicted at it's conclusion.

Gabriel:
When you're ready to, you can wake up and re-take your current vessel. When you awaken you'll be essentially 'floating' about a foot above your hand and filled with a burning need and desire to re-take your hand as a vessel to use. The room is empty, braziers having burnt out some time ago.

Ignac's Weapon

As Ignac reaches out, the presence in the weapon can be tangibly felt to be awakening. The weapon grows warm in Ignac's hands as the mind stretches out to the full extent of it's wooden and bronze prison. At present it is still somewhat primal and unfocused... but Ignac can feel it slowly building. So long... but no longer... I have been called back... the árnyék karom sends a new master. Who are you deadthing?

Vesta / Gathroc / Daemon - question for you in Disc thread

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

I am Ignac Takacs, former general and currently in the employ of the great Shadow Claw. What are you known as?

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Until otherwise needed Vesta is going to spend her time learning "the ways." Shortcuts based on jumping between the shadow plane and the material. Though the two planes are parallell the topology is not linear. ;-) (ever read Harry Dresden? Like that.)

Minor Crab-beast

Once Gabriel and Daemon check back in-thread I'll move things on to the next phase of debrief

The presence in Ignac's weapon chuckles dryly "In time pályázó, you may earn my name... but not yet... not yet... my soul is stretched by idleness, we will talk more when action is needed..." and Ignac senses that the presence wane within his weapon as though returning to rest. The power within the weapon remains tangible and it seems to vibrate slightly as you hold it.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

So the weapon is Hungarian? :P Also, just to be certain, it is speaking telepathically, correct?

"Very well, I suppose."

Minor Crab-beast

Yes... yes it is :P
Yeah, meant to be telepathic - my bad with the formatting.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

No problem.

'Male' Crawling Claw (Human) Rogue 10

A few hours later, Gabriel slowly drifts back to consciousness, only to find himself in the very surreal situation of looking at his own hand from above.

Well... This is certainly interesting. I never expected to see myself quite like this...

He suddenly feels himself overwhelmed with a burning desire to 're-take' his familiar vessel, and directing his thoughts towards it, he immediately feels his essence drawing taught like a string, before there is a sudden snap, and he finds himself once again inhabiting his 'regular' shell.

Hmmm... There could be some intriguing benefits to all of this. I look forward to experimenting!

He then heads off to look for the others...

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc makes his way to the room where his weal is to be found.

Ok, this is really weird. Apparently Gabe posted in this thread some time last night, but I can't see it. Not that seeing his post is a huge deal, but I have no idea is I'm missing others posts as well.

Minor Crab-beast

Hmm - Gabriel's post didn't show up, but I know he's floating around as I DM him in another campaign, so all is good.
We can resolve Daemon in past tense off critical path ;)

Gathroc enters a room which contains a small smithing station. Upon the workbench lies a vial filled with an inky black viscous oil. Next to the station is a pedal operated whetstone. You are overcome with a powerful urge to sharpen Zhennuelge.

Perception DC 15:
The whetstone wheel is not made of stone, but rather appears to be a circle cut from a petrified bone.

_____________________________

What serves for a 'night's rest' in Mechitar passes for each of you, engaged as you were in well earned distraction. With the coming of the following morning a summons is issued. Each of you is visited by a small golem made from bone. It waits for you to acknowledge it's presence before ushering you to follow.

Assuming that you obey the command, the golem leads you to a chamber at the top of the structure. Sitting just beneath the external claw is a square room that is bereft of decoration or furniture bar a smooth crystal table at it's centre. The table is currently clear, but you recognize it as a scrying table. The constructs instruct you to wait, and then depart leaving you currently alone with your companions.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Very well. Ignac responds when the bone golem gives him his summons.

Ignac stands at attention while waiting for everything to come together.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

Upon noticing the bone golom in the morning, I quickly slide my phylactery into my pouch, not having a better place to stash it yet, and quickly follow the golom to the waiting room. Upon seeing the crying table I must suppress an urge to rush over and study it. Waiting behind Ignacio, pacing irritably and mumbling to myself about future plans.

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Ignacio?

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vesta follows the golem, slightly annoyed at the disturbance, then looks in to the table when she arrives.

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc sits down, polishing and sharping Zhennuelge, getting lost in the motions of an action even older than he. He doesn't even notice the bone golem enter, making it wait for a good couple of minutes. Finally, he looks up and acknowledges the minion, and follows it to wherever it leads. The ancient general is eager to wage war again.

Ignacio?

Haha, it said Ignac when I typed it, stupid phone spell check

Minor Crab-beast

Previously....

Gathroc:
As Gathroc sharpens Zennuelge he finds that the whetstone does not behave as he expected. Instead of the whetstone putting an edge on the blade - the petrified bone wheel slowly erodes as it spins against the curveblade. A trance falls over the headless warrior as he maintains the rhythmic motion for hours, pausing only to reapply the black oil.

When he is finally roused by the bone minion his sword feels different... as though something were now dwelling within... hungry for blood to be spilled.
I'll narrate how the effect takes hold when you earn your first soul point

Daemon:
When Daemon awakens, before the arrival of the bone golem messenger... he finds a simply wrapped parcel. Opening it he is greeted by a huge ruby that is hanging on a chain of black pig iron. Looking closely he can see a figure trapped within the ruby as though a mosquito trapped in amber.

Gazing ever closer, a wry smile cannot help but crack upon his preserved lips... The figure in the ruby is one that he recognizes... it is the High Priest of Urgathoa that facilitated his conversion to lichdom. The same priest that then withheld his phylactery and forced Daemon to menial servitude. Daemon was the master now... and his revenge would be long, unrelenting and painful.
Slotless magic item that provides the 3 level caster boost we discussed. It works by draining the suspended essence of the priest within the ruby - inflicting pain upon him.
Just choose which side (Cleric or Wiz) that you boost at the start of the day.

Present Time

A short time after the group is assembled you are joined by one more. A frail looking Tien man wearing a simple robe in black that is belted at his waist by a velvet rope. His back is stooped and he balances his forward momentum with an iron shod wooden staff. His head is shaved bald, though he retains a white goatee that has been left to grow and reaches down to touch upon his chest.

Despite his appearance, all that you sense from the man is raw and unbridled power. His gaze passes around the chamber taking in you all with a measured and assessing look before speaking "One hopes that you found your reward commensurate to the pleasure I will have perusing the book you retrieved for me. It will take me time to discern what can be discerned, but events have been precipitated that require my attention... and if you are willing, your further assistance."

Gabriel:
If you haven't guessed already this is the humanoid form assumed by your master the Shadow Claw when he needs to manuever in confined spaces.

With a wave of his weathered hand, the crystal table flares momentarily before changing to a map of Geb. On the map there are a number of red markers upon the map throughout the reaches of the country. "My position as Blood Lord has been challenged by some who think a foreigner unworthy... Our task is to convince them the folly of their ways." his eyes almost crackling with malevolent intent.

Male Human(Lich) Cleric 3, Wizard 3, Mystic Theurge 4

My right hand going to clasp a large ruby suspended from a chain I was not wearing the night before and my left hand resting on my belt pouch, a wry smile crosses my face.

"The rewards were more then I ever could have hoped for, I feel I am now in your debt for all you have given me. I am ready and willing to provide further aid."

Female Human (ghost) Shadow Sorcerer 10

Vesta says very calmly with hints of glee just behind her tongue,

"Who do you wan't me to kill?"

Male Human Graveknight Armiger 10

Where do you want us, my liege?

Male Fell Tiefling Fighter/Monk/Magus 12(tristalt)

Gathroc strides into the room, seemingly more confident than before, if that were possible. However when the man who is the Shadow Claw infoms them of their task, hereplies "Earlier you had said war has come to Geb. This is not war, not truly. While I am most thankful for what you have bestowed upon me for my role in bringing you the book, I will not just jump into what sounds right now as personal battle, without first knowing who and what we fight against, and why. I am loyal first and foremost to the Thorne and those who sit upon it."

Minor Crab-beast

Turning to regard Gathroc the man's face does not alter though the air seems to grow heavier and more tangible around you. He holds his gaze for a pair of moments before continuing "War has come to Geb, enemies rise within it's borders and must be put in order before my gaze can turn Northwards. We fight those who oppose me, because I wish it to be so."

Minor Crab-beast

For those that cast a glance to the map you find the red markers are throughout Geb, though none are placed within Mechitar itself. Each is accompanied with a short notation in a language that none of you have seen before. It consists of complex line and stroke based characters that is perhaps from the Shadow Claw's homeland.

There are clusters in the Axan Wood, Crabfield Island, the mountain range to the North West of Mechitar and a spread out group at the North adjacent to the Spellscar Desert.
