"That was my intention, forgive me if I was unclear."

That was one of the reasons he did not want to scout before. He was going to fly out of range of the enemy ship, wait until they engage, then swoop in. Or does that have the same danger?

The captain nodded. "Then prepare."

As the ships drew close the crew of the Lady Wave hurled grapples over to the slaver ships. Two huge planks were dumped between the ships, allowing you to storm the other vessel.

The slavers roared up to the side...only to be met by a wall of lead and smoke as Whitebeard's crew opened up with rifles pulled from out of sight. Surprised by the unusual weapons and there close ranged lethality the slavers were momentarily stunned and began to fall back, allowing you to launch your counter attack

"Remember, no fire!" Whitebeard bellowed. "We burn together! Not to mention I have no desire to hear slaves scream as they roast."

First round to you guys thanks to the rifle surprise. Also, Ship to Ship Fun.

As the rifles roared, Azri shouted out an arcane word as she focused on the man who seemed to be leading the foes. Most of her hexes couldn't reach that far, so she was stuck with her magic - but hopefully, this would bother him enough to remove his ability to effectively command his minions, rendering them much easier to beat. If not? Well, she'd just keep casting and working to render the slavers vulnerable. And who knew? Perhaps they'd even be able to capture the slaver's ship and sail into their city with an extra source of income... having a trading ship, that was, not slaves.

Cast: Blindness on the Slaver Captain. Fortitude DC 17 negates.

Plan on having Nigrum swoop in near the enemy captain, dismount, and go all slayer on him. Not used to the ride skill. The way I read it, the mount uses it's move action to get in range. Nigrum uses a free action with a ride check to dismount. Then still has his normal actions after that. Is that right?

I don't think it's a surprise round; we just got the first turn. Ayreth is correct that there are no AoOs because they're flat footed, though.

Selena waits for Foxy and Ayreth to finish their display of pretty lights and colors, and then charges in, Dan Bong in hand.
"Here I come!" the half-succubus shouts merrily as she runs trough the plank, charging in the direction of one of the guards. When she's near the enemy, she plants the Dan Bong in his foot, and then slams him to the ground by grabbing his neck.
"Gotcha!"

Yes, it's round 1 rather than the surprise round - they kinda saw you coming, what with the boat. No AAO since they haven't gone first. Snapping Turtle is Active. Also, did you guys have to give me so many rolls to do? Jeez, no fair, making the GM work

Only one of the bodyguard remained unaffected. Two of his colleagues swore and cursed as Mihara's glitterdust entered ones eyes and the other collapsed in a heap thanks to Ayreth's mutliple spectrum assault. Another slaver also collapsed in a heap.

The one who managed to avoid being blinded or put to sleep, however, failed to avoid Selena, who quickly grabbed the pale skinned human slaver.

"And just so you know, that one's permanent." Azri said with a smile. "Hard to judge the value of a prize if you can't see it, right?"

With that, she hopped off of where she was and dropped down to the deck below...

...entirely unharmed by the little stunt. She focused her Evil Eye a moment later, shooting out a burst of debilitating energy towards one of the slavers on the other ship.

Evil Eye: -2 AC. Targeting AF-18, I believe it is. Will DC 18 reduces to 1 round from 8.

Now she'd just have to look for an opening and send one of her foes running to meet Selena...

Aibek lingered in the shadows around the back plank, watching for any slavers who may think they can sneak around or otherwise escape the fight near the forward plank where the others were concentrated to get at Captain Whitebeard or the Lady Wave's crew bravely fighting near the back of the ship.

Preparing to pounce, Aibek watches the plank and the front of the other boat carefully while calculating a plan to not only save their skin, but maybe any slaves that might be captured on the yellow sailed boat, and then there were the possible of more boats - Aibek watched a moment while prioritizing the witchwolf's concerns.

Ouch. That's a lot of incapacitated foes.

Seeing that the slavers are blinded and disabled, Mihara sees a good occasion to end the combat without lethal bloodshed, opting to leave local authorities to sort things out. She sheates her short swords and instead chooses to draw her saps.

Aw forgot to ask, does Nigrum's studied target already effect the captain? Sense he was looking for him from the start. Or does it need to be stated this round. Regardless will post in a bit, don't want to keep holding everyone up. xC

Nigrum comes roaring down towards the enemy ship, Alerdene far from unaccustomed to such tactics. Her white feathers beat with powerful thumps until the enemies are before them. Wasting no time in his sudden appearance he flips off the saddle.

Ride DC 20: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Landing with practiced ease his blood lust is clearly felt as he speaks.

"Surrender or die. Their will be no second chances."

His eyes focus solely on the captain before him but it is clear he is aware and ready for the others.

Intimidate (Demoralize): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32

Assuming his studied target was not in effect so using it on the captain now. ;)

Despite Nigrum threat, several of the slaver screw try to board the second plank to the Lady Wave. They know what will happen to those who surrender if there own masters catch them.

And the Slaver crew wasn't exactly novices at being boarded. Several of them dropped there weapons, allowing them to hang by thick cords, before pulling wadded nets from there gear and hurling them.

Trip Net Attack Ayreth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Trip Net Attack Mihara: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Trip Net Attack Selena: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

The expertly thrown nets covered all but Ayreth.

The Captain snarled. "What makes you all think that I need eyes to see?" With a sharp movement he yanked a small tube from his belt and drank it down in a gulp, transforming into a strange creature with a smooth expanse of skin where it's eyes should be. He inhaled deeply. "Seeeee youuuuu".

Oops. Confusion in the ranks here:

I originally had Mihara use her move action to fly over to the other boat and moved her on the map.

Then, I realised we wanted to be nonlethal, so I edited my previous post to instead have her store her swords and draw her saps, but forgot to move her back.

For the sake of clarity, and since I've already been net'd, I'm going to stick with the original post, and have Mihara have flown over, swords in hand.

"A net, huh?" Mihara chides, "You'll need better than that."

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

With the net hanging limply over her flying form, Mihara dives sharply and throw the net over her head and shoulders, leaving it to fall onto the deck, freeing herself.

Full round action: Escape net.

Can you trip someone who's flying? How does the 'trip' affect Mihara? In case I need a Fly check to stay upright:

Ayreth steps behind Selena and the air above her begins to crackle with energy as she says, "Arm Spiorad.". A white vertical line expands in the air until it coalesces into a giant bow. Ayreth looks up at it briefly. "Hmmm...interesting." The bowstring draws back and a prismatic arrow of light forms and is released at the captain.

Can't post right now, I'll be able in the next hours. By the way, Ayreth, could you step back on the plank just another 5 feet? If I have an empty space, I can reposition and throw the guy I'm grappling into the water.
He's also the only one able to threathen your square, so he can't do AoOs as long as a half-succubus is hugging him!

In the shadows, Aibek watched as the slavers started making their way over the back, a growing growl coming from the witchwolf as they came closer.

Once they board, Aibek pounces with a loud grown on the first to arrive:

"Wha-" Selena manages to say before one of the slavers entangles her in a net. Still firmly holding the enemy, the half-succubus first tries to free herself, but desists when she realizes it would take too much time. "Whatever, I can handle the likes of you even like this!" the half-fiend shouts irritated, as she tries to drag the grappled slaver toward the plank...

If the grapple attempt is successful...:
Not without some effort, Selena manages to drag the enemy toward the plank. "You...stink...just take...a bath already!" she says trough gritted teeth, trying to push him off the ship. When it looks like the slaver is about to get away, the symbol on Selena's hand starts to buzz, and the half-succubus effortlessly throws the enemy off the ship.
"Ahahah..." she starts to laugh faintly, staring at what she had just accomplished "Ahahahahah! That's awesome! Just wait a couple of seconds, and it's your turn next!" the half-fiend points to the captain, trying to take the net off in the meantime.

In my last post, I got something wrong: my CMD wasn't 33, but 34 (forgot snapping turtle style applied to that, too). With the -4 to DEX for being entangled, I'm at 32 CMD right now.

Regarding the throwing off board, I have to add something: normally, repositioning someone in a dangerous space (i.e water) after a grapple confirmation gives them a free attempt at escaping at +4 bonus. As the Throw function of Uncanny Grapple doesn't have that restriction, RAW they don't get a save when I toss them in dangerous spaces: I'm totally ok if you want to add one, tough! (Tough to be honest, I doubt they can beat 32 CMD, even with a +4 bonus :P)

Oooooh, that bugger. Well, the potion probably wouldn't last forever, and he'd still be blind after that. Bleh. The others seemed to have the combat well in-hand, so she ran down the length of the ship to join Aibek and focused her Evil Eye on the slaver closest to him. "Ought to be a bit easier to hit him now!" she called.

GM of all he Surveys - Still sick, but in a different way

As one slaver sailed through the air and Aibek's claws gutted another, the slavers began to rally. They were not used to having to fight to survive, but for prey. On the other hand they knew how many loathed slavers.

The slaver bodyguard who'd been unaffected by initial spell assault moved up to flank with the captain on Nigrum. He hacked away at the taller warrior, hoping the Captain's strange transformation would distract him.

Attack on Nigrum: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Another slaver also ran up, and tossed another net.

Attack on Nigrum: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Both attacks failed, however.

The captain ignored the spiritual weapon that appeared near him. If he even noticed it he gave no show of it. Instead, he took the heavy weapon he carried in both hands and, sniffing, focused on Mihara.

Attack on Mihara: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d12 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Not being used to being blind he missed dismally.

Another crew member charged Selena with a war cry.

The desperate blow bit deep into the Monk and the slaver cried out again in exultation.

The slavers attacking Aibek continued over the bridge. Some fell to the Lady Wave's crew as they tried, but some made it.

The one closest staggered as Evil Eye affected him, but still tried to take a swing at Aibek

Azri stepped a bit closer, then sent a second Evil Eye through the air, aiming at the next slaver in line. Hopefully, the crew of the ship - flanking him - would be able to cut him down before she got started on the next one. She cackled a moment later to extend the duration of her powers. She considered her laugh a moment later, though. "...Hmm. Maybe I should try a higher pitch?"

"END THEM!," she yells in the odd mixture of two voices blended together, her eyes glazed over as the force bow shoots another arrow at the captain.

"Urgh!" Selena grunts lowly when the slaver hits her. Still entangled, she isn't able to move as freely as she would like. Turning around for a split second, she sees that her friends were already dispatching the captain. "Well, looks like I'll have some fun with you..." she grins malevolently at the man that struck here moments before. Alas, the blow clouded her concentration, and her attempt at restraining him is not as effective as she would have wanted.

It was time to make good on his word, he drew Tsui and swing it down as the blade came free in one fluid deadly motion.

At the end of the strike with unnatural speed, the blade disappears and Nigrum blurs as his position changes seemingly in the blink of an eye. Tsui's point in the opposite direction it had been less then a moment ago.

As another slaver falls to Aibek's claws and fangs, more collapse under the assault of Ayreth's magic. As for the captain he is torn in half by the combined might of Mihara and Nigrum, falling back to the deck with gasp and a sick, wet splat.

Another volley of rifle fire broke the remains of the slavers. The first tossed down his weapon and he was soon followed by the half dozen or so other slavers that remained.

Selena misses the slaver she was trying to grapple, the net making her fall and trip over herself. She prepares to catch the blow that the enemy was probably going to struck her with, but nothing comes: instead, she hears a splat, and then sees the slavers drop their weapons!

"Uh, guys? What's happening?" she asks the others, rolling around the deck to tear the net off. "Ah, finally: damn thing got stuck in my horns..." the half-fiend sighs after having managed to tear the net off, only to freeze a moment later. Without knowing, she had ended up at the side of the captain's bloody, chopped up remains.
Still on the ground, the half-succubus reels back with a gasp, pushing herself away from the body with her hands: but for reasons unknown to her, she can't take her eyes off the bloody pulp that moments before was the captain.
A part of her wants to run to the side of the ship and throw up.
Another part shouts that he got it coming.
And another, small part in the back of her head, is disappointed that she wasn't the one to gut the man open.

Aibek smiled as they surrendered, but continued to growl loudly until those surrendering in front of the witchwolf had gone backwards to the yellow sailed ship as to Aibek that would make sure the crew of Lady Wave's were safer from such peoples.

Aibek said in a loud growl over the ship as they retreated over the thin plank "I would go start freeing any slaves and telling them" motioning to the Mihara, Selena, Ayreth, and Nigrum on the yellow sailed ship "about any other forces working with you on this and if possible getting whoever else is out there to leave us alone if you wish for anyone here to show you any kind of mercy. While seeing how far you can fly would be amusing, I'm sure you would like to prove that you're more useful otherwise. If you can prove so and we haven't taken too many loses to see such things as the better option, you should thank everything in the universe..."

Once those at the back plank had moved back to the other boat, Aibek moved to try to see the fog bank for other ships. "Do you see any other ships, captain? Aibek called out to Captain Whitebeard while moving towards the back of the ship. Trying to remain calm while many bad situations, like having slaver ships crash projectiles up their back end, swam through the anxious torrents of Aibek's mind.

While moving, Aibek called back, "Azri, is it possible for you to prepare to see through the fog to check on what they're doing if we can't get eyes on them soon?" . Aibek didn't want Azri to waste spell power if it wasn't needed, the witchwolf was well aware of such things from family members though never kept straight what required how much, but Aibek couldn't think of a better way to ensure their safety at the moment than magic eyes on the fog. "That and getting any badly injured moved somewhere safe is the best I can think of to prepare for any further attacks here while the others get the others sorted. Any recommendations on dealing with the other ship, Captain Whitebeard, any way we can bring that ship along with us?" Aibek said, the rapid thoughts swirling around being obvious in the rambling as Aibek worked towards the back of the boat to give another pair of eyes on the fog bank.

"Not without expending some limited power, but I'm pretty sure I can do it if you need me to." Azri said cheerfully. She clapped her hands together a moment later as she crossed to the slavers' ship. "All right, all of you, please gather together! We haven't quite decided what we're going to do with you yet, but a clear and obvious show of cooperating with us is less likely to result in your summary execution. For your sake, now's a good time to consider being on your best behavior." She'd be paying close attention when any of them talked - she was pretty darn good at noticing when people lied unless she literally wasn't paying attention to them, and this ought to be a nice test of her skill.

Emmitt leaps down from Ayreth's shoulder and nonchalantly walks over to the captain's corpse. He begins poking at the body carefully, avoiding gore and blood to the best of his abilities. It takes a moment before anyone observing realizes that he is searching the body.

He is looking for keys specifically, but will pull out anything interesting and set it to the side. If he finds the keys:

He pulls the ring of keys out with his mouth and drags them to Ayreth whose eyes are no longer glazed over. She bends down and picks up both Emmitt and the keys. "I'm going belowdeck to see if there are any prisoners. Anyone wish to join me?"

Mihara looks over to what remains of the Captain after Nigrum's powerful strike, and watches Selena run for the edge of the ship.

"... so much for a clean kill," she chuckles.

She notices Emmitt searching the body and opts to help, rolling the corpse over to give the animal better access to the captain's pockets. "That's a smart kitty you have there, Ayreth. I'm impressed."

Ayreth shakes her head slightly, trying to clear her head. Taking in the scene, she responds to Mihara, "You have no idea. Sometimes, I'm not sure that even I really know how intelligent he is or what he knows.

Emmitt doesn't acknowledge the discussion with anything more than a wiggle of his nub tail. However, he does look to Mihara before returning to Ayreth, and it is oddly certain that it was an approving look for the compliment and help.

Aibek's voice snaps Selena out of her daze. Averting her eyes from the corpse, she stands up again, still staggering a little.
So, Ayreth and Foxy are going to get the slaves out of there. Good. And I-I...

Looking around, taking in the surroundings once again, she notices the Azri lining up the slavers. After a moment of insecurity, she retrieves some Bloodvine Rope from her backpack and ties the still sleeping bodyguards, before catching up with the lich.

Moving next to the witch, Selena tries to imitate Nigrum, looking as intimidating as possible...
"Yeah, uh, what she said."
...without much success.
The recent shock notwithstanding, it would have been stranger if someone was scared by the half-succubus. If they didn't behave, however, they would soon find out that the non-threatening
first impression she projected couldn't have been more deceiving.

Nigrum calms Alerdene now that combat is over. While she could be deadly on her own, he preferred she stayed out of fights for her own safety. He walks over to where the slavers are round up.

"Does anyone wish to explain the fog?"

He wipes the blood from Tsui as he speaks. He was being reasonable for the moment.

Emmit found the keys attached to the captains belt.

The remaining slavers gathered on the deck, weaponless, and knelt. Not wanting to invoke any kind of anger, one of the now blinded bdyguards answered. "There are three more ships in the fog. Each of the ships has a wizard or something making the fog, and who can see through it. We either drive a ship into the fog so the others can surround them, or play keep away until the same happens." He glanced at the captains remains. "Didn't work out that way this time."

Nigrum thinks, he had a few ideas but would wait until everyone put forth their own. After all, when it came to tactics. He had no sense of mercy and ruthlessness was a requirement. He would also admit he did not specialize in naval combat.

"Any ideas on how to handle the three ships in the fog? Would you have any input Captain?"

Whitebeard shrugged. "Follow Aibek's suggestion. Ask the galley slaves to keep there post, but half the crew on that tub and use there own fog to ambush them one at a time. It'll be hard, but we might get the first before the other two can close, and we'll even the odds."

"Should be fun." Azri said cheerfully. She turned back to the captured slavers. "I suppose we'd better lock all of you somewhere nice and safe. We don't have too much time here, so..." she held up one hand, and a field of crackling negative energy surrounded it. "...you'll only cause me trouble once, hm?"

With that, she began nudging all of the captives down belowdecks, where she'd be working to fasten all of them into chains they couldn't escape from - after thoroughly checking them for keys, of course, and she did detail a few slaves (or other volunteers) to keep an eye on them until the battle was over.

"By the way, if your friends have something that might kill you down here, perhaps you should speak up. I'm very inclined to be lenient towards those who talk, and... less sympathetic to those who keep their mouths shut."

All right, that ought to be one problem down...

"I might have an idea, but I'm not sure how confident I am about it..." Mihara ponders aloud. "You've seen what I can do, where imitations are involved. I could pose as the captain and try to get the other ships to disengage, though I'm not entirely sure how they'd take it."
