What are these glyphs in Player Core and GM Core?

What in the name of Ibra do the groups of 3 glyphs under the section headers of Player Core and GM Core mean? Why are they not present in any other books? Why are they wildly varied in Player Core, but in GM Core it's just two different sets depending on whether the background is white or blue!?

I checked in the book The Gap, but all records of them seem to have been erased.

In the Player Core, I stopped finding new symbols in the classes and stopped looking for more at page 201. So far, I have found around 40 different symbols, with many being used more than once.

Since they are always in groups of exactly 3, it's hard to imagine they are an alphanumeric system, at least not one that is a simple this = that conversion.

In other words, I have no idea...
