I just had the most cursed thought.
Frightened:
> You take a status penalty equal to this value to all your checks and DCs.
Would... would recalling knowledge about a creature be a "DC" that Frightened reduces?
From a ludonarrative perspective, I would say that a creature acting scared tells you a lot about it. So it makes sense it would become easier to know/learn things about it.
From a mechanical perspective, that feels weird. But I also think the DC to RK a creature is one of `"your ... DCs"` in a lawyer-y kind of way.
Like, it's usually not on the stat block. But every creature has one that's clearly defined and specific to it much like an Athletics DC (which is affected by Frightened of course).

The DC to recall knowledge about a creature is not really a stat of that character, it is a world DC* that can have numerous penalties and. Onuses applied to it by a GM for reasons players may never know. The ability to learn something about a creature through observation is not a default mechanic of PF2, but is something several classes have versions of. Many of those target a direct defense and those would be affected by frightened.
*characters might make a RK check about a creature when that creature isn’t even present. The check is about accessing information about that creature from the world.
