I am looking to see if there is any interest in a high level game of 1E AD&D. I am interested in running the module, The Isle of the Ape. This is a King Kong style exploration adventure with a pseudo save the world angle to it. It is generally for fairly high level characters, around level 14-18.
This would be very old school AD&D 1E. That means all the bizarre randomness of early AD&D. I would be using the Players Handbook and parts of Unearthed Arcana. We would also be using the non weapon proficiency system of the Wilderness and Dungeoneers Survival Guide. I would rather not use Oriental Adventures or Dragon Magazine material.
At the moment this is just a thread to see if there is interest. I dont think the 1E rules are available in any online SRD so you will need access to the rulebooks. In terms of stuff I would be using:
PHB - pretty much anything. No bard as we will not be using dual classing. No evil alignments will be allowed given the nature of the module so no assassins.
UA - no Cavaliers. Weapon Specialisation is fine but dart throwing lunatics need not apply. Barbarians are fine.
Demi Human level limits will apply but we will use the ones in UA with a two level bump to all of them.
Stat generation will be random but fairly generous together with the ability to increase stats based on level in much the same way as 3e allowed to represent gaining access to things like wishes over time.
Each player will have an XP budget to make decisions about their character. Multi classed characters will have to split it between all classes evenly, even after hitting level cap.
Starting magical equipment will be generated randomly by me and then allocated amongst the group as you prefer.
So, if that sounds like something you might be interested in let me know. If we have enough interest I will set up a proper recruitment thread. If you have any questions then post away.
