NEW PROJECT BEGINS!
Name: The Phoenix Fatality
Projected Schedule: Concurrently alongside The Sky Scions
Launch Marathon: Summer 2026
End Marathon: c. Summer 2029, or earlier if TPK
Party: House of Tempest Wings, our eight-member dojo with its symbol of a butterfly and bee.
The Fatality: For the first time, OAD members will face off against each other in brutal player vs. player combat. Enemy fighting teams will be played by live players who are given access to the stat blocks in advance, so they are able to prepare properly. Their goal: Defeat the protagonists and end our project in glorious Total Party Kill! Imagine the cred that you could earn by defeating other OAD members in PvP, in front of the entire community? We are aware that pitting OAD vs. OAD will result in a severe competition that could result in the shortest project ever displayed on the Paizo Blog. To account for that, we created something new.
What's New: We have a “Character Select Screen” for the House of Tempest Wings to use between matches. Artist Bill Castonzo drew this screen in gorgeous fashion, and in-between fights, the protagonists can select the fighter they wish to use in the next fight. When all eight fighters are dead, the project is over.
What's Also New: Apparently our use of a house rule in The Sky Scions was popular, so we have another. It’s a combat mechanic that lets players perform a three-action “fatality” against a dying opponent to gain a Hero Point. However, you better have your fatality ready to be acted out at the table! And just like in Mortal Kombat, if you don't pull off your fatality fast enough, the enemy bleeds out.
What's Fun: To help the community get a better understanding of each character in the project, our members were given an assignment months ago: Each member of our dojo had to choose a character from a martial arts video game as inspiration for their fighting style, as well as a character from a martials arts film as inspiration for persona. After a long winter spent watching movies and playing fighting games in our studio, we are excited to show off the House of Tempest Wings!
Guests: This one is mostly OAD vs. OAD, with several members returning from inactive status just to face off against other members. That being said, who else do you want us to invite from the industry to square off in PvP?
