Connecting Candlemere to the rest of the adventure

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might have some ideas/advice for tying Chapter 9 to the rest of the campaign. My group explored the upper part of Candlemere early in the game during hexploration, and have been super curious about it ever since, so I don't want to cut it. But I just feel like they're going to be disappointed by how completely disconnected it is from the rest of the campaign. In earlier chapters I managed to fit the Varnhold Vanishing and the Lamashtu cult a little more neatly into the rest of the adventure by tying threads back to Nyrissa, but I'm stumped on Candlemere. I feel like there's got to be a way, maybe tying it to the Lantern King since Candlemere is full of will-o-wisps, but I'm just completely coming up blank.

Liberty's Edge

Maybe the Lantern King feels Nyrissa has it going too easy and wants to spice things up by letting the PCs get a better fighting chance thanks to what they can find below Candlemere.

He might stir the will-o-wisps in a frenzy such that they start attacking people beyond their usual territory.

Or maybe he spreads rumors about this, maybe even in person.

Or both actually.
