I am a retired software developer and hobby gamemaster. My best strategy for sinking into a world is to write about it and since my most beloved hobby is still coding I would like to make a small free game which lets me delve into the complex world of Golarion. I tried to read the legal guidelines but I am still unsure if I am allowed to use Golarion or any lore locations, characters for my fun project.
Platform: itch.io or similar open source platform
Price: free hobby project (will never try to make money from it, my country does not allow me to earn extra money in my age anyway)
Type: Idle Loop javascript game, won't use any graphic assets, just text
While an idle game has as main game loop of mostly numbers that go up, I would like to write a background story about the game that features Golarion, maybe even build some idle and very simplified battles that are based on Pathfinder 2e and classes. The goal is mostly for me to create something in world to get my mind into the lore and by making it available to others to motivate me to get it done, cause most of my hobby projects that I keep to myself never get finished.
I would use locations that are available from Pathfinder Wiki. Would this need a license or would something like this be allowed as a fan project?
