I have just started a FoundryVTT Kingmaker game with my group, that I am going to be running in a West Marches style because we are all quite busy. I am investing heavily in companions, so that when there are only, say two or three players, they can have a companion join them that session, controlled by one of the players.
I was looking into Valerie and I think her arc is really cool, especially in the CRPG where she gains the scar and encounters life from the opposite side of beauty standards. Borrowing from that, I have made her act of blasphemy against Shelyn be disfiguring her own face, because I think that makes a stronger hook for players. The rest of her story, I have left mostly intact.
A lot of my players chose the Brevic noble background and are building characters tied to the political machinations of their families. I think they would make a nice background element to the more active story moments, particularly in the early kingdom stages. I am planning to have these noble families trying to meddle in the players' kingdom.
And that was when I noticed Valerie comes from a Brevic noble house. What I want to know is, which noble house is most likely to be hers? I was thinking Lebeda with their whole swans and grace motif, but they're very much tied to Rostland with Lord Lander Lebeda even training to be a swordlord. So why would Valerie join the swordlords if she's trying to get away from them?
Anyone who knows the lore, I would love some advice on how to tie this in.

IIRC, Valerie isn't from one of the big five Brevoy houses originally (and they don't say which House she's from). You could probably just make one up, but I think House Lebeda works just fine.
Valerie was part of an order of Shelynite Paladins (Champions?). The Swordlords are a different group. I don't think there's any reason why Valerie wouldn't want to be associated with the Swordlords, unless you want to give her one.

Ohhh I didn't even think about vassal houses, but that works well, thank you.
My concern about swordlords was Valerie wants to distance herself from her family and House Lebeda is associated with swordlords, but I guess it's still far enough to not be an issue
