I am running my STAP campaign in Greyhawk using the 2024 5e rules, and I am placing the Isle of Dread in the Elemental Plane of Water.
Why?
My friends and I have been playing D&D since the 80's and 90's; we're all in our 50s, except when our kids join in, who are in their 20s. We (mostly) enjoy the differences in lore and cosmology from update to update, and it's fun to explore how these changes impact a game's narrative.
So:
Help me think of how this would play out in the campaign. I know we need to establish practical travel to the Isle of Dread to follow the STAP narrative, and I only have a couple of ideas:
1. Use of wakeportals (like how the Crimson Fleet travels to Gaping Maw)
2. Harnessing the planar storms that carry ships to and from the Isle of Dread
Any thoughts?

Great! Here's the short and to the point answer: Moving Isle of Dread to the Elemental Plane of Water (EPW-Bitlife) is a great idea! Quick tip: Make the EPW environment appear on the island (e.g. unpredictable elemental floods, Water Weirds enemies). Good luck!
