Deity's favored weapon Starfinder 2e

I am trying to get access to my deity's favored weapon.

In the deity section of the Starfinder player core 35 it says.
"Each deity entry below lists their
name, title, and a short description with cultural information.
Following that are the benefits available to the deity’s most
ardent devotees. You get these benefits only if you have
a rule that specifically gives you a devotee benefit."

Yet devine bond just says skills and spells.
And the DISCIPLE back just gives the skills and lore. So how does one gain all the devotee benefits, mainly favored weapon y.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Currently: By playing a Cleric or a Champion (if the GM allows imported Pathfinder classes).

In the future: By playing a yet-to-be-announced-or-released Starfinder class that gives benefits keyed off of the Deity's Favored Weapon entry.

The space pirate archetype gives access to certain weapons that are also favored weapons of Besmara, which makes sense. So we might also see options like that come up when we get more 2e archetypes.

You can also gain proficiency through certain ancestry feats and general feats, instead of through devotee benefits.

For example, the iconic mystic, Chk Chk, has the shirren ancestry feat Unconventional Weaponry at 1st level, which has been used to make them proficient with Zon-Shelyn's favored weapon, the painglaive.

A human with the Versatile Human heritage can take Weapon Proficiency at 1st level to become proficient with all martial weapons, or (if already proficient with all martial) with one advanced weapon.

Sadly, I have not found a way for my pahtra mystic to be proficient with Meyel's battle ribbon at 1st level. He'll just have to wait to take Weapon proficiency at 3rd.
