I keep hearing good things about this movie. It's Ryan Coogler doing horror - a vampire movie set in 1930s Mississippi.
I was impressed that it's Friday to Friday drop from opening day was only 32%. And it's second weekend Saturday and Sunday were higher than the opening weekend Saturday and Sunday.
I might not get a chance to see it in the theater, but will make an effort to see it on streaming.

This movie finally popped up on HBO and I was able to watch it. It was excellent. The performances by the cast were great. The story had a lot of small moving parts, but they blended well together into the overall story. It had some truly odd, but disturbing scenes.
It had plenty of great lore incorporated into the script. The vampires had some creepy stuff that made them really interesting. And I love the recent Hollywood trend of always making their eyes reflect light like an animal. I think it always makes for a really cool special effect.
There were only a few bits of plot hole or silly stuff, but these didn't take from the overall movie too badly.
In particular, the performance by Michael B. Jordan was great, playing the twins Smoke and Stack.
And Buddy Guy showed up in the end, playing the elder version of one of the main characters. I've seen him play in real life, so that was a treat.
I encourage everyone to see it.

Watched it yesterday. We enjoyed it for the most part but a few things didn't work for me. One, the mix of the two storylines felt rather contrived and jarring. Two, I was very frustrated at how dumb and useless the vampires were (though I guess that explains why they aren't a common worldwide problem).
Other than that Jordan did an outstanding job.

That is a small complaint I have that due to it being a movie and taking inside of 24 hours, there wasn't quite enough time for things to be better explored. The Vampire Hunters left because they knew that trying to fight Remmick on the edge of night was a bad idea and so chose to retreat. If things had gone on longer, no doubt they would have started hunting again. (Imagining Remmick and his group getting pincered by the Juke Joint group and the Hunters)
Perhaps having one extra day for the Klan to gather and Remmick to recover and figure things out from his thralls would work. I'm imagining a multi sided war with
Juke Joint+Hunters
Klan
Remmick and Thralls
Heck, toss the mob in there as well.
