Key Attribute boost question

Rules Discussion

Silver Crusade

On page 91 of the Player Core, it states, "Additionally, when you choose your character's class, they gain an attribute boost to their key Attribute modifier, increasing that attribute modifier by 2." Is this correct? I thought your class increased your key Attribute by +1. I checked the errata for the Player Core, but this was not listed there.

It's an error due to the tweak to how ability scores/attributes are scaled in the remaster.

In the original CRB, you had a score used to determine the modifier, but mostly only used the modifier. That score starts at a baseline of 10 (+0), and each boost adds +2 to the score, which translates to increasing the modifier by one.
A typical PC will take a boost to their key ability score from their ancestry, background, class, and the set of four boosts for rounding out your character. 10 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 18 (+4).

The remaster simplified it. Your attribute has a baseline of +0, and increases by +1 with each boost. So a typical character might have 0 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = +4.
The modifier--the part we actually use--didn't change, they just made it a little simpler to calculate.

But in that translation, boosts went from being +2 (or +1 if the score is already 18 or higher) to +1 (but it takes two boosts to increase a score that's already +4 or higher).
They just missed one spot where it says +2 while making that change.

Yeah, it should be +1 if you're using Remaster rules.
