Chapter 2 question

Season of Ghosts

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Week 10:
The text for this entry says:
Quote:
During the following week, each PC can Prepare for the Feast three times, but doing so prevents that PC from having the time to perform any downtime activities.

but the activity itself does not have the preparation trait. Does this mean they can still do the usual food and security activities, just not normal downtime activities like earn income?

Paizo Employee Creative Director

Spoiler:
It overrides all activities with the downtime trait, including the usual food and security downtime activities; when you Prepare for the Feast you have to focus on just that.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks! We STILL haven't gotten to this due to player availability. Hopefully in a few weeks.

spoiler:
Regarding the same section of text, if each PC gets three rolls, the entire group (assuming a party of four PCs) must succeed on all rolls just to reach 4 points or more in all three categories (totaling 12 points or more). With this threshold for Night of the Feast, even a single failure makes it difficult to end the feast without penalties. Was this intentionally designed this way? Or am I overthinking it?

It does seem strange that getting the minimum in all categories requires at least a success on every roll. However, it seems like the penalty for failing certain categories is much greater than others.

Spoiler:
In particular, Entertainment at worst provides a small penalty to getting bonus items after the party, while the results of Banquet heavily factor into the result of the whole event. If it is intentional, you would need to get fairly lucky, but also if the party happens to have relevant Lore skills, they have at minimum 65% chance (15% crit--x2 points) on the rolls (including bonuses for creativity).

Still, you might have to sacrifice a category in order to achieve any of the better results. If it suits your table, it might be appropriate to increase the rewards for creativity, or else modify how many points are needed per tier.
