Is the plasma caster supposed to be a pistol?

I was looking through the equipment in the starfinder 2e playtest, and noticed that the plasma caster while described as a "compact pistol" it is listed as being a two handed gun with the same bulk as the zero cannon and stellar cannon. I just wanted clarification on if this pistol is supposed to be cannon sized or is it supposed to be in line with the other pistols?

That is probably a mistake. Plasma Casters are typically a heavy weapon like the other weapons you mentioned.

For what it's worth, plasma casters were longarms in 1st edition.

I mean, the weapon table has it as a bulk 2 weapon that requires 2 hands. So the description is probably an error.

it gets wierd when the advanced pistol mentions it starting out as a modded plasma caster. I really just wish there were more than one martial pistol.
