Purchasing Magic Items

Liberty's Edge

Ok still pretty new with 2nd edition and remastered vs 1st edition. Are there any magic items that can be bought (like the old +1 items) that dont require access from a cert or boon? is it basically just common items?

I know we are limited to 10 or 12 items we can invest in (.ie have active on us) wich items require this investment/ Activation? Potions for example or elixers are magic items do I have to invest in them for them to work?

Thanks for the info as i get back in to doing some society stuff

There has been no change to that.

Magic items have the same access rules as anything else. If it's Common, standard availability, and from either a core book or a book you own, you have access. If it's Uncommon, standard availability, and has an access condition that your character meets, you have access. If something says you have access--a boon or the character options page. For items, this would also include those listed on a Chronicle.

Items that require investment have the Invested trait. Potions do not. Elixirs are alchemical, not magical (that's the difference between elixirs and potions).

Thanks for clearing that up for me!
