Being reborn from the Kumaru tree

Did any GMs out there assign that fate to the characters after the WT blew them up?

Did you go as far as to actually have them reborn?

What did that look like?

How similar (or different) were the new beings to the original PCs? Were they all the same races as they were when the WT used his weapon against them at the end?

How long did they "gestate" in the tree? Were they in cocoons or similar confines waiting to form some kind of immature body and fall to the ground when their cocoons opened, or did they just step out of the tree fully formed?

What did they remember, if anything?

Wrapped up my campaign last night.

We had a PC death in Book 5, and at the end of the book, I had the PCs participate in a ritual to use that PCs obol [and their own blood] to plant a new Kumaru Tree.

When... well... spoilers...

Spoiler:
TB kills the party w/ the Radiant Fire I told my players that everything went white, and then they saw it backfire and kill BBEG.

I then asked them to tell me their happy endings. Which they did.

It was nice.

And then I had each of them meet with a dead NPC who told them that "You know this isn't how it ends..."

The Kumaru tree basically gave them a dream future in the last moment, to reward them for saving it. Kinda like "the Last Temptation of Christ." [I forshadowed this a few times, but in the last session I reinforced it with them meeting Barzhak again, and he told them that "You will never walk my roads again."]

Then we go back, and it ended.

The last bit of narration from me was the psychopomp from Book 1 talking to Miraina, and looking at little fruits budding on the new tree, and her saying that they will be reborn in a better future...
