Hi, everyone!
It’s been a while since we’ve run a session of GM school, so early next year I will run GM school again. This time, there will be classroom sessions on the Paizo forums and on Discord. If there is sufficient interest, Starfinder, Pathfinder 1, and Pathfinder 2 will all be covered.
We will start on Monday, January 8. For the first few weeks, we will having classroom time only. We will be talking about what makes a good GM, and about best practies to make a game run smoothly. I will be leading these discussions, with Bigrin as my co-teacher on Discord, and mentors will also be contributing their experience to the discussion.
After we’ve covered the basics in classroom, we will continue classroom while games start up. A mentor will run a game for students in order to provide material to talk about, and then students will run games for each other. For Starfinder and Pathfinder 2, there can be several games running at the same time. Due to some older rules for Pathfinder 1, only one game can be run at a time, so GM school may take longer for PF1 students.
I’m looking for both students and mentors.
Requirements to participate as a student:
-willingness to be part of up to three games at a time. You will only be a GM in at most one of these; the others will be games run by a mentor or by another student
-ability to post every day for the length of GM school
-willingness/ability to pay up to $5 US to purchase an adventure, if needed. We will try to get convention support to give you your adventure for free, but this depends on how many students are interested.
Mentors will be selected as needed from those who apply.
If you are interested in participating as a student, please fill out this google form.
If you are interested in participating as a mentor, please fill out this google form to apply.
I’m looking forward to working with many of you.

Questions,
1) This all pf2? I don't have pf2. It's not my style really.
2) While I don't do much pfs (and never GM pfs), and I tear up and rebuild any modules I run, there is still plenty of GMing things I can teach, such as improv and meshing mechanics to narrative. Any desire to learn from a GM such as myself?

We'll be learning PbP, but certainly many of the general things we talk about will also apply to VTT or in person GMing.
And this GM school is in the context of society play, where GMs are neither free to change the mechanics nor the narrative to make them match.
We will be offering PF1, PF2, and SF if there is enough demand for each.

Will this classroom take into consideration different levels in the English language for non-native english speakers ?
I expect that will depend a lot on the people in the group you are in. I sincerely hope that others would be considerate of that. I know I will, because I am quite certain that your English is infinitely better than my Belgian. You being able and willing to communicate with me in English is a great courtesy to me. The least I can do is be courteous in return.

@Redelia: That really doesn't answer my question. The start date is clear, but the approx. duration is not.
I am very interested to learn the ropes of pbp-GMing, but at the same time I am not sure if my availability will be good enough.
How far into the year do you expect the GM school for PF1 to run / when will it end at the latest?
Also, I'm waiting for the answer with my sign up or not. Is it already too late to sign up now?

It wasn't meant to answer your question, Kaervek. I really can't tell you how long GM school will take; each table will probable finish at a different time. It is possible it might take as long as 12 weeks, although 6-10 is more likely.
I've turned off the sign-up spreadsheet, but if you are still interested, I can turn in back on.

I’ve just learned about this, perhaps too late. Do you have room for one more student for the Starfinder group? Thanks!
I'm sorry, but right now I've gotten everyone set at a full table. To rearrange everything so close to the start date wouldn't be possible.
Hopefully we'll be running GM schools more regularly in the future, which would mean not having to wait very long for the next chance.
