Homebrew Reflection Feats

Homebrew and House Rules

Hello! I'm new to these forums, and (mostly) new to the system as well. This is my first homebrew for PF2e, so any and all constructive criticism is welcome!

The base text for the Reflection Rare Heritage assumes a tense, possibly antagonistic relationship between the reflection and their progenitor. But what if that’s not the case? What if your progenitor has chosen not to hold your origins against you, or maybe even was responsible for your creation in the first place? Maybe you were created as an unintended side effect of a beneficial potion or spell, and your progenitor’s family decided to raise you alongside them. Maybe you were created as a weapon to be used against your progenitor, but turned on your creators. Listed below are a selection of feats designed for a reflection who is an ally or friend of their progenitor. These feats could be very useful if the reflection and progenitor are both party members, or if the progenitor is a patron of the party.

Note: These effects all have the potential to unbalance a game, especially if the reflection’s progenitor is drastically more powerful than they are. As such, they are all listed as Uncommon or Rare, and a GM should consider the impact these feats would have on their game’s story before allowing them.

Progenitor Adoptee (uncommon, Reflection, Level 1) Prerequisite: Your progenitor has adopted you as family or you have been raised by members of your progenitor’s ancestry. Effect: You gain the Adopted Ancestry feat for your progenitor’s ancestry*, except you also gain access to feats available to their heritage. In addition, you become Trained in one Lore associated with your progenitor’s ancestry or heritage.

Channel Progenitor: (uncommon, Reflection, Level 5) Prerequisite: None. Effect: You can tap into your progenitor’s base of knowledge and experience. Once per day when you are about to make a Skill Check, you can choose to use your progenitor’s proficiency bonus to that skill instead of your own. You may also choose to apply the effects of any relevant Skill Feats your progenitor has to this check.

Linked Minds: (uncommon, Reflection, Level 9) Prerequisite: You have met your progenitor, and the two of you are mutually non-hostile. Effect: You establish a telepathic connection with your progenitor, using the same mechanics as the telepathic bond spell. This connection is permanent until one of you uses an action to sever it, and can be reestablished with an action at any time so long as both of you are willing. In addition, your progenitor’s ability to pass information about their mannerisms to you means that while this connection is active and your progenitor is willing to help, you don’t need to attempt Deception checks to Impersonate them even when you’re interacting with people who know them personally, unless that person already knows of your existence and has prior reason to suspect your involvement, in which case you gain a +4 Circumstance bonus to your Deception check. Your progenitor can impersonate you in the same manner.

Mirror Reversal: (rare, Reflection, Level 13) Prerequisite: Linked Minds. Effect: Once per hour, so long as your telepathic connection is active and your progenitor is willing, you can use an action to instantly switch places with them, with you appearing in their space and them appearing in your space. This is a teleportation effect.

Advanced Channel: (rare, Reflection, Level 17) Prerequisite: Channel Progenitor. Effect: Once per hour, if your progenitor is willing, you use any ability available to them that uses 1-3 actions. This includes casting spells or using other special abilities. This expends resources as normal, and functions as if your progenitor had used the ability with your actions from your space using their proficiency bonus, but you add your ability bonus to the check and you do not gain the effects of any equipment they have.

*Under most circumstances, the progenitor and reflection will share an ancestry and differ in heritage only. However, I included Adopted Ancestry for the sake of characters who use an ancestry such as Poppet or Automaton to express the nature of their creation.
