While it's fun to think what spell lists a SF2 caster may draw from if they were applied, I really hope they stick to SF exclusive spells for the new classes. To help keep the sci fi flavor of these classes, and keep them more distinct from the PF 2 classes, which is a goal they have in mind.

I fully expect that SF2 will have its own spells printed for all of the traditions. Mystics won't be casting Command, they will be casting Command. They won't be casting Alarm, they will be casting Proximity Alert. Not Thoughtful Gift but Translocate Object.

And there will probably be unique ones too like Remote Operation, and Hide Weapon.

What I do expect to go away is the class specific spell lists. You won't have a 'Witchwarper' spell list or a 'Mystic' spell list.

There is an Elemental spell list in PF2, so it isn't unheard of to have a spell list that isn't a tradition list. But even that one is not part of a specific class - it is part of the Elementalist Archetype.

I could maybe see some tags like elemental that could interact with what spells classes get, or alter their spells based on archetypes. It just doesn't feel to me like SF2 has enough caster classes, or likely will EVER have enough caster classes, to need the type of spell iists that pf2 has.

Maybe something like Technology for spells that directly interact with technological devices, temporal for spells that bend time like some of the stuff precogs get, environment for spells that affect the terrain. But then I wonder if they go too far with that if it'll just get MORE confusing than class specific lists would be.

I'm really curious to see if they touch on spell lists when we eventually see a field test for mystics, assuming they end up doing one of these field tests for all six of the classes.

Starfinder lorewise its kinda weird they are now gonna use pf2e traditions after whole 1e "magic is magic, mystic could be any of pathfinder 1e casters technically!" (with other type of casters representing pretty abstract concepts)

Magic lore wise though I never really bought it fully that traditions would over time just kinda meld and lose their identity completely, even with Jatembe's teachings and all. Like the magic traditions are combination of various essences(life, matter, spirit, mind) so its not like they are just purely theoretical.

Admittedly, I think I would have preferred it if by time of starfinder they had come up with new traditions that combine essences different or even all four of them :'D
