Cast spout as a level 2 summoner, how many D4 do I roll?

Level 3?

Level 4?

Level 5?

Level 6?

Level 7?

Level 8?

Level 13?

Huge fight at the table over how heightening works. Shouldn't there just be a table?

thanks!

Cantrips always auto heighten, so at level 3 it would be a rank 2 spell, at level 5 it goes to rank 3, and so on.

I am saying Rank instead of Level since they're changing the nomenclature soon, but it's the same thing.

1st/2nd: 1d4
3rd/4th: 2d4
5th/6th: 3d4
7th/8th: 4d4
9th/10th: 5d4
11th/12th: 6d4
13th/14th: 7d4
15th/16th: 8d4
17th/18th: 9d4
19th/20th: 10d4

As for actual spell slots, Summoners only have slots for the highest two spell ranks they can cast. So at level 5 when they get 3rd rank spells, they lose their 1st rank spells. All their spells are signature spells, so they can be cast and either level, assuming they are allowed to be cast at that level (no 2nd level fireballs for example). They also don't get 10th rank spell slots like other casters do, but their Cantrips still heighten to that rank.
