Large creatures can't polymorph themselves?

You can target only creatures that are Small or Medium with this spell, and all your polymorphed forms must be Small or Medium

Different levels of polymorph allow you to change into bigger things, but none of them seen ti increase the size of the target. Are dragonkin just out of luck for shapeshifting?

Wayfinders

Looking at the spell as-written, the target size limitation is only specified for the first level version of the spell. Since second level and higher make no mention of limits on the size of the target, you could argue that Large creatures can be targeted starting at second level.

I could be wrong, though.

Hmm.. Usually multi level spells have language along the lines of "this functions like the level 1 version except..." but I'm not seeing that here.

So is that a level 1 restriction only or is it carrying through because it's not changed?

Ok so you have polymorph lv one you can turn into a small or medium creature. but lv 4 polymorph says small, medium, or large creature.
As to if you're a large species like uplifted bear trying to cast it to polymorph into a small or medium creature. I would rule yes. You can as a uplifted bear mystic casting the spell but you cant target a large creature. (at lv 1 at lv 4 then it would change)
