Book 2 ka pulse just happened, help me bring my dead pc back as an encounter

Book 1 paladin died to the false sarcophagus. Fastforward, the auction happened and they immediately went to clear out the silver veins. At some point i want them to stumble upon the paladin that has come back from the ka pulse. How can i make a fun encounter with this for 6 level 5 characters.

He is now an Blackguard/antipaladin. Make them a sword wight or a graveknight or something similarly nasty.

Or you could make them a fallen paladin who wants to come back to life and redeem themselves.

Like Bjørn said, graveknight or another such template is probably the best way to represent such a fallen PC.

But on the off chance that you don't want to bother with the math that comes with rebuilding a character (not to mention that asking this player for their sheet now is a dead give-away), you might like this monster, the Fallen. It's very specifically a "righteous crusader" brought back to unlife, a good fit with some flavorful abilities. It also sits at CR 8 which seems appropiate given a party of six lv.5 PC. You might even want to give the ex-paladin some minions or apply the advanced template.

It likely won't make a lot of sense due to revenants coming back due to hatred for its murderer, but.... I'd be tempted to replace Velriana with the dead PC instead anyways.

Or turn him into a Zealot Wraith 'cause it feels appropriate for a paladin that died and then was subjected to the ka pulse.
