My wife and I have been out of the game for a few years after the birth of our son, and we're trying to get back into Organized Play.
One of my wife's favorite characters to play in 1st edition PFS was a camel riding Katapeshi Cavalier. The camel was MVP in several encounters, rolling high in clutch moments. She's interested in recreating the character for 2E, but from my understanding of the Archives of Nethys site, the Camel is not available without a boon, and the boon is located in the chronicle of the *FIFTH* book of an adventure path!
Is that right?
Is the camel that powerful?
Is there any other way to get a camel mount?

There is a boon that can be purchased for 10 Achievement Points (ACP) on the Boons tab of your Organized Play account page.
Friends from the Ashes
The Pathfinder Society has connections far and wide, and is able to procure trained animals not commonly found in the Inner Sea. This character has access to the camel, hyena and vulture animal companions. You do not need to own a copy of the Age of Ashes Adventure Path to select these options.

No, this is an ACP-purchased boon that does not require having played the adventure. Some of those were recent added for Age of Ashes. It is the first AP that is sanctioned for PFS credit to get boons like that.
For the earlier question part, this was never about camels being powerful, just about a general approach of tying Access to things published in adventures instead of rulebooks together with credit for those adventures.
