Most iconic or best fights in Kingmaker... and 3d printing...

hey everyone!

so I was wondering what people think of as the best fights or creature reveals in kingmaker. I have access to a 3d printer and intend on printing at least the biggest bad or best shocking reveal (fight wise) and paint them up for my table top. clearly it would be easy enough to print up the end fight from each chapter, but there are other fights throughout the path that would make for great "gotcha" moments as I place a model on the board. so if you don't mind, please let me know your opinions on the best fights.

Thanks ahead of time!

I do plan on that one! I already started looking up cool owlbear models.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You gotta do the jaberwocky (at least, once you know the campaign is gonna go all the way). It's pretty much the herald of the last act, and one of the biggest epic moment there is if they wait around long enought for it to actually assault their capital. Beside, a jaberwocky figure would probably be worth to have even outside this perticular campaign.

Actually, that's true for most of the bosses in the "sound of a thousand scream" chapter, it's known to be the "boss rush" chapter, and it should feel like it. At the very least the nightmare rook should have one, but the wriggling man, the knurly witch, Ilthuliak and kaargstad (in this order of importance) deserve a mini too. And of course, most important of the chapter is the big mandragora, who is a bit of a "PTSD" monster for all those that struggled against mandragora prior (likely to be the case).

All chapter bosses deserve a mini, but I'd say Ivoretti might deserve it the most (along with nyrissa and the lantern king), because he's the one your PC will meet multiple time before actually facing him. Also, for the Ivoretti fight, having an Engelidis (a spirit naga) mini would be great.

As for hexploration monsters, the rock of Talon Peak could be great, especially because you can easily make the creature encounter the PC multiple times before they actually get to properly hunt down his nest and take him down (I find it quite usefull to impress on the PC that they shouldn't try to get close to the tors of levelnies too soon, or even to prevent them to wander into the kamelands before killing the stag lord).

And finally (and peraps most importantly), if you think your PC won't just try to execute Grigori during his first event (and thus, if you think you'll be able to make him a reccuring "kingdom management villain"), you have to make a mini of him. At first, just put his mini down during his events, and then when the pc have learned to hate the bastard, just ominously get his figurine on the table during kingdom management time. Not always, but sometime, and just wordlessly push his figurine in the middle of the table during *some* crisis, those were he possibly could have a hand in, even if they don't actually meet him at all during it. Just to keep them guessing, and to make then paranoid whenever you grab his mini.

In the same ballpark (but in a more light hearted way), Munguk could work great as an "event" character that the PC may encounter multiple time during exploration (and even peraps make waves in kingdom management), so a mini of him could be used multiple time.

Great reply Scarablob! I really appreciate the list and I will look into getting appropriate miniatures for all those you brought up. especially running the sound of a thousand screams with all unique minis sounds great! when I start printing and painting I will try to remember to post the pics up here. thanks a lot!

Do you have anywhere that you are getting these STL files? I too have been wanting to 3D print bosses for this AP and, while I haven't done a ton of searching, I haven't found much outside of the WizKids miniatures.

I picked up these files for the owlbears. I might get a few different ones but this is my first purchase.

I mostly check on myminifactory.com or a general google search for stl files. yeggi is a decent place to find files also.

I think I want to get some good trolls too, gonna have to start looking for them.
