Psychodermist Occultist and Trappings of the Warrior

Advice

Liberty's Edge

So, I am looking at trying to make an occultist and have been bouncing around a couple ideas. One that I think sounds really neat is to make a Psychodermist that uses bone to make a weapon out of (I was thinking a scorpion whip made out of a spine or something) using the bone special material. Now, the only major problem I am seeing is that in Trappings of the Warrior, it lists the need for shield and weapon implements.

I am curious other people's thoughts on making a weapon as a bone implement for necromancy, and a shield out of scales for abjuration.

It sounds super cool to me, but I am not sure if the weapon implement means that it has to be a weapon specific implement, or just an implement that happens to be a weapon. And if it is specifically restricted transmutation or not. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A terbutje made of bone and teeth for the weapon and a bone shield (possibly with chitin/shell or hide/leather as well) could work. "Bone can be used in place of wood and steel in weapons and armor;" "Other animal-based materials like horn, shell, and ivory also use the rules for bone weapon and armor;" and "Studded leather, scale mail, breastplates, and wooden shields can all be constructed using bone," per the special material rules.

As far as using the same item as an implement for different schools, I don't think it is specifically prohibited for the occultist class itself ("Every day, the occultist selects one item from that school’s list to be his implement for the day for each implement school he knows. The occultist needs only one such item to cast spells of the corresponding school, unless he selected that implement school multiple times, in which case he needs one item for each set of spells gained from that school."), although you would still need to track mental focus separately for each school. However, the psychodermist archetype does have a limitation with the Trophies ability: "A trophy that fits multiple implement categories, such as a hand with clawed fingers, can function for only one implement school at a time."
