First trailer is out for The Boys spinoff, Gen V. Definitely looks gory enough to continue on the legacy!

Everybody is just so messed up! It's fun, but kind of all dialed up to 11. And, of course, so many of the powers are just over the top riffs on teen / college issues like cutting, bulemia, body dysphoria / gender identity, questionable consent, etc. which is amusing, if totally on the nose.
As one would expect for such a group of folk, there've been several points where they could actually deal with some of the stuff falling their way (sort of controlling the narrative and getting the upper hand), but, being impulsive, stubborn and not at all prone to sharing their useful information with each other, they just bumble along. :)

I saw a talk with the producers of Gen V/The Boys Thursday, and they mentioned that one thing they love making these shows is that they can make them so that the audience has next to no chance to guess how a season will end. I'd say that Gen V definitely lived up to that. That ending was bananas! (my guess for a while now was that somehow Golden Boy would come back from the dead - way off!)
Normally I'd be despairing that it would be a whole 12-18 months until season 2, but thankfully The Boys season 4 is coming a whole lot sooner than that. With all of the crossover characters from the Boys to Gen V, I wonder if any Gen V characters will show up in season 4?

I'm really happy with the first 3 episodes of season 2. Not only is it simply always good to return to the world of The Boys and Vaught, but Hamish Linklater is fantastic as Cipher, the episode descriptions continue to be perfect, but they also really did a fantastic job of handling Chance Pedromo's passing in the show. I'm not sure I've ever seen a character so present without being there at all in how his passing impacts all the other characters.

I saw it coming, but it was still done very well. And again, Hamish Linklater killed it just as much as Dean Cipher afterwards as he did before.
I also had the thought that Marie Moreau may be a critical plot point in S5 of the Boys, curing Butcher of his cancer (and likely taking the cancer super powers away at the same time).
