Dying 3, my turn is next, and the combat has just ended

Rules Discussion

So let's say a player character is at dying 3 and their turn is next in initiative order after the last remaining enemy. On this enemy's turn it dies from persistent damage. Does the PC need to make its recovery check to not die, or does the end of combat allow the paladin to use lay on hands before it comes to that DC 13 flat check? Asking for a friend...

Pretty sure you stay in initiative until anything that "needs" it is resolved.

That is how I do it.

While the threat of an enemy is over, the threat of death itself is not, as a character is still needing to recover from dying, which means the encounter isn't technically resolved yet.

Initiative order would still take place until the character is either dead or recovered/stabilized. If the Paladin is able to reach the character and use Lay On Hands before their next turn, it should be fine. If not, then a stabilization check needs to be rolled, and if it fails, the character will have to either spend a Hero Point to avoid dying, or accept the consequences of the combat.

Thanks for the help everyone!
