Brooch of Shielding

Horizon Hunters

In the description, it says the Brooch adsorbs 30 Magic Missiles before wearing out. Is a first level three-action MM spell one use of the brooch or three?

That is a very good question, and one that will likely get both answers.

From how I read it, I would say each missile created is a separate missile even if they are cast from the same spellcasting activity.

So level 1 3-action Magic Missile would be 3 missiles and if blocked would be 3 uses of the brooch.

The thing about Magic Missile is that the damage variable never changes, you just get more missiles. The seemingly most reasonable interpretation of the rule is the total number of missiles and not the amount of castings of the spell is what is absorbed.

Horizon Hunters

Yes, this makes sense. If the caster heightens it to do more damage, it should burn up the Brooch faster.

Thanks!
