Pathfinder: Handling younger players using my characters?

Horizon Hunters

I frequently Game Master. My kid is six and tags along. Under the Pathfinder Society rules, I can't accrue XP for characters under my ID, even if my kid is too young to have their own account.

Should I create an account for my kid? Is there an option to use characters associated with a GM for younger family?

I have known many children who have their own Org Play ID#s. I assume it is their parents setting up their accounts for them.

But I wanted to address this:

You absolutely can accrue XP for GMing. Unless that was a typo and you meant your kid's characters.

Unfortunately, you are correct that your child's character can NOT accrue XP without their own ID. In addition, it is correct that you cannot put your child's character under your own ID and give it credit for games.

As for Nefreets comments - While creating a GM baby mimic of your child's character is an option as long as you only have one child, this will mean that you are giving up any benefit as a GM and will only allow for a single child to benefit

If you want your child's characters to accrue XP & gold, they need an Organized Play ID. If you're running through a lodge or at conventions, an organizer should be able to give you a new player ID card that you could use for your child until they come of age.

Alternatively, you can create a new paizo.com account and generate an OP ID that way, then pass the account off to your child when they're of age (or the ID could be transferred to a new account they make someday).

Having a paizo.com account and having a Org Play ID are two different things.

You need to be a certain age to have a paizo.com account without parental permission - one can create an account for underage kids, the parent just needs to jump through hoops.

As far as I know, there is no age one needs to be to receive an Org Play ID. Have a(n adult) GM reserve one and assign it to their child player. I just reserved a block of 10 so that my kids and my kids' friends can have similar IDs.

The Org Play ID can be linked to the paizo.com account at a future date.

As a matter of fact, the Org Play ID doesn't need to be linked to the paizo.com account to receive credits (ever), although it means their character name won't autofill during game reporting and they can't buy boons.
