Glimpse of the redeemer and damage

Rules Discussion

Glimpse of the redeemer states "the ally is unharmed by the triggering attack"

Does it also stop any secondary effects from an attack, say a poison or disease that might come from the attack?

Depends on the effect, ask your GM.

Further notes:

Alchemical Poisons wrote:
Injury: An injury poison is activated by applying it to a weapon or ammunition, and it affects the target of the first Strike made using the poisoned item. If that Strike is a success and deals piercing or slashing damage, the target must attempt a saving throw against the poison. On a failed Strike, the target is unaffected, but the poison remains on the weapon and you can try again. On a critical failure, or if the Strike fails to deal slashing or piercing damage for some other reason, the poison is spent but the target is unaffected.

So alchemical injury poisons specifically don't work, but technically no rules on other poisons.

Persistent Damage wrote:
Immunities, resistances, and weaknesses all apply to persistent damage. If an effect deals initial damage in addition to persistent damage, apply immunities, resistances, and weaknesses separately to the initial damage and to the persistent damage. Usually, if an effect negates the initial damage, it also negates the persistent damage, such as with a slashing weapon that also deals persistent bleed damage because it cut you. The GM might rule otherwise in some situations.

And persistent damage doesn't generally work.

I have always read that to mean that the enemy decides at the last second to not make the attack at all. So no effects of the attack happen.

It is a bit of a rewind of time, but that is not uncommon for a TTRPG.

I'm not sure if this was errata'ed at some point or if it was just a typo in your original message, but the text actually reads "The ally is unharmed by the triggering damage."

Similar, but slightly different. If it said triggering "attack" as is in the original post then I'd agree that it implies the attack effectively doesn't go through, but I think as written right now only the damage doesn't go through.
