Why no masks in the pictures?

Odd thought but I vaguely recalled in 1st ed there was mention of arcanist students wanting fae or animal familiars so I was very interested in reading through the details of the school in these books (still trying to figure out the meaning of the beads). However one thing stood out in this up to date information all students have an animal themed bonded mask yet none of the pictures I've looked at show the characters actually wearing them. Is there a reason none of the artwork shows NPC's actually wearing the masks that are so important to the mgaambyans?

Scarab Sages

Just trying to figure out if it's to show NPC'S, if the masks are only worn for certain ceremonies or some other reason.

Silver Crusade

The former, it’s to actually show the NPC.

Scarab Sages

So they would wear them normally thanks.

IIRC it's also not like a religious requirement or anything like that. Members of the Magaambya wear masks as a nod to tradition and their cultural roots, and also because masks are handy for enchanting and making into magic items and the like, but they aren't exactly mandated to wear them or anything like that. Given that they are also an organization dedicated to doing practical good it stands to reason they'd be fine with taking them off.

I suppose members of the Magic Warrior archetype are outliers in this regard, but their existence and their dedication to not removing their masks does highlight that it's likely not as big a deal for other practitioners.

Just seemed odd when masking is such a big thing in the AP that none of the pictures has someone wearing one.
