Hi, new to playing board games and was wondering how adding a skill works. I read some of the older threads but still a little bit confused.
Lets say I am using Yoon which has the following:
1)
Constitution: D10 + 2 Constitution skill feat
Fortitude: Constitution +2
2) Dexterity: D8 + 1 dexterity skill feat
3) Skill: Recharge blessing to add fortitude skill
4) Weapon: Galvanic Chakram +1
reveal to use Dexterity + 1d8 + 1
I encounter a monster with a combat check. Which of the following apply when I use recharge a blessing to add fortitude skill?
Scenario #1: When not using weapon:
a) D6 + D10+2+2 for Fortitude Skill.
-The D6 is for strength during combat check.
-Base die is D6. When using a blessing, get an additional D6
b) Only D10+2+2 for Fortitude Skill
-Base die is D10. When using a blessing, get an additional D10
Scenario #2: When using weapon. Are you able to add the fortitude skill and the weapon together? or only choose one?
a)
2D8+1 and additional D10+2+2
-Base die is 8 from dexterity. When using a blessing, get an additional D8
b)
2D8+1 and additional D10+2+2
-Base die is 10 from fortitude. When using a blessing, get an additional D10
c) Only able to use weapon
2D8+1
Thanks you for your time.

Hi, Kaikin!
It looks like you're using Yoon from the Mummy's Mask set based on the power you reference ("You may recharge a blessing to add your Fortitude skill and the Fire trait to your combat check.").
1) Constitution: D10 + 2 Constitution skill feat
Fortitude: Constitution +22) Dexterity: D8 + 1 dexterity skill feat
3) Power: Recharge blessing to add fortitude skill
4) Weapon: Galvanic Chakram +1
reveal to use Dexterity + 1d8 + 1I encounter a monster with a combat check.
You are correct that if you don't use a weapon, your default for combat is either your Strength skill (in Yoon's case, a d6) or Melee skill if you have it (which you don't). A blessing adds the base die for your check - in this case you are again correct; it adds a d6.
If you recharge a blessing on this check, you do indeed add 1d10+4, which is Yoon's Fortitude skill with the 2 Constitution skill feats you noted. (Notice recharging a blessing for Yoon's power is not playing a blessing, so even under the newest rules, a blessing may still be played on this check.
b) Only D10+2+2 for Fortitude Skill
-Base die is D10. When using a blessing, get an additional D10
This is incorrect because you can't add your Fortitude to your combat check without actually making a combat check. You need to play a weapon or spell or use Strength/Melee first, then add your Fortitude.
Scenario #2: When using weapon. Are you able to add the fortitude skill and the weapon together? or only choose one?a)
2D8+1 and additional D10+2+2
-Base die is 8 from dexterity. When using a blessing, get an additional D8b)
2D8+1 and additional D10+2+2
-Base die is 10 from fortitude. When using a blessing, get an additional D10c) Only able to use weapon
2D8+1
If using the Galvanic Chakram +1, A is mostly correct. "For your combat check, reveal this card to use your Dexterity or Ranged skill + 1d8+1." You said Yoon had 1 Dexterity skill feat, so substitute (1d8+1) for Dexterity, increasing the total with the weapon to 2d8+2 before blessing or adding your Fortitude. Recharge a blessing for that same +1d10+4 and/or play a blessing for an additional die of the type defined by the cards and powers played. Your weapon has defined your combat check as using Dexterity, so that a blessing adds another d8.
With blessing = 3d8+2
With power = 2d8+2 + 1d10+4
With both = 3d8+2 + 1d10+4
Thanks you for your time.
You're so welcome! I hope that all made sense!

Hi Whipstitch,
Thank you for the clear explanations and also catching the missed +1 for the dexterity. Our group just finished scenario 2 for MM and I was actually playing the following and thinking it was a bit underwhelming:
1) no weapon + recharge blessing for power
1D6+4
2) with weapon + recharge blessing for power
2d8+2+4
Now it seems to be way more overpowered vs monsters.
