I'm adapting predict weather from Arcana Unearthed. The spell is . . .
Predict Weather
Divination
Level 1 (simple)
Casting Time: One Minute
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: Instantaneous
You learn what type of weather the surrounding locality will experience the next day.
Diminished effects: The spell has only a 50% chance of predicting the weather correctly. Casting it more than once yields the same result each time.
Heightened effects: You can predict the weather for the coming week.
Diminished and Heightened effects are for that system and mean using a spell slot higher or lower e.g. lvl 0 cantrip you have the 50% chance of a correct result. I'm planning to have this removed and it just be a 2nd level spell to predict the weather for the coming week.
What I'd like advice on is the following . . .
1) How detailed a result should this be e.g...
"There will be rain on Tuesday" (You only know there will be rain not if it'll be a shower or a major storm).
"There will be a storm on Tuesday" (Tells you not only will be there be a type of weather but how bad it'll be).
"There will be a storm from noon to 1:30 on Tuesday" "Tells you exactly what and when the weather will be"
Personally I'm thinking the 2nd option giving you an idea of the extent of the weather but not precisely when it'll be happening for.
2) What material component would be good for this (they were removed entirely in arcana unearthed) or should there be no component or a focus?

A couple of things to compare to:
Using the Survival skill: "Predict the weather up to 24 hours in advance. For every 5 points by which your Survival check result exceeds 15, you can predict the weather for one additional day in advance." So the spell is equivalent to a Survival roll of 45.
The existing Fortune's Path spell. It's much broader, but only has a 50% chance of telling anything useful, and a 25% chance of "[A]ccurately predict a major event likely to happen in the next week. For example, you might foresee an enemy ambush, the discovery of sought-after information, or inclement weather causing significant travel delay (though this spell would not show you the event’s exact details)."
Most of the magic items I've looked at which deal with predicting the weather just add to your Survival roll.
For level of detail, make realistic adjustments. Precision goes down the farther out you go, and the broader the area you want to predict.
Material components: a small flame, a pinch of earth, and several drops of water.

Hmmm I hadn't realized survival skill let you predict the weather. Perhaps I should go with the normal version instead of the heightened. One minute first level spell that gives you knowledge of tommorows weather only then. That way you can do a survival check for a general prediction possibly for several days or cast the spell for a detailed knowlege of tommorows weather.
Survival: "rain tommorow" with a chance of "rain till Wednesday (2 day's ahead).
Spell:"Rain from 8 till 10, cloudy until 5 when there'll be a brief 15 minute shower clearing into eavening". Prediction valid for the area I'm standing in.
