Using sophisticated sensors and ballistics processors, your drone not only provides withering covering fire but can also quickly convey recommendations for how to best target your attacks. Your drone gains a +2 bonus to attack rolls to use covering fire, and it can choose to grant the circumstance bonus exclusively to you, rather than to the next ally to attack that foe. If it does so and that attack hits, it deals 1 additional damage per weapon damage die. You must be able to see or hear your drone to gain this benefit.

What damage is the text in bold referring to? Covering Fire specifically says that it deals no damage. It almost sounds like its saying that the enemy deals more damage if they hit you after the drone grants the circumstance bonus exclusively to you, but the description makes that seem an odd effect to using the special part of the mod's ability, particularly the part about "can also quickly convey recommendations for how best to target your attacks". Did they perhaps leave out a line about the mechanic attacking the target or maybe intend for it to be Harrying Fire instead of Covering Fire?

The wording just doesn't quite add up to me.

EDIT: The more I read it, the more I think it was intended to be Harrying Fire. I just noticed it also says "it can choose to grant the circumstance bonus exclusively to you, rather than to the next ally to attack that foe."

Yeah, agreed - it's gotta be a typo for Harrying Fire.
Also, how great is a mechanic drone that's just a walking tripod laser pointer :D
