Nanocyte Gear Array Limitations

Rules Questions

The rules text in question:

"Major forms include weapons and cybernetic augmentations; minor forms include technological items (excluding armor and weapons) and personal items."

"Augmentations must be cybernetic, weapons and items must be technological items (not magic or hybrid), and you can’t select equipment that’s consumed on use (such as grenades) or whose bulk exceeds your Constitution modifier."

Is the term "technological items" here referring to the item category, or more colloquially items of a technological origin?

If the term refers to the item category (or for weapons, any weapon lacking the magic or hybrid properties), then does this mean the nanocyte can create items with the living quality or are otherwise alive, such as a spidersatchel or a crawling cord? Biotech is a form of technology, after all. This also means the "(excluding armor and weapons)" portion of the first rule is totally redundant, which isn't itself a dealbreaker, but is worth noting.

If the term refers instead to technological items like the layman would think of the term (here meaning nonmagical, non-hybrid, and not organic or alive) then does this mean that the nanocyte can create armor upgrades or computers?

As a separate but related question, what about species grafts? The rules state that:

"Species grafts can be cybernetics, biotech, magitech, nanite enhancements, or any other form of augmentation. A specific species graft might describe its form, but that is merely an example. Your GM might decide what a species graft looks like when you purchase one or you might determine its specifics when you craft it. This doesn't affect how a species graft functions—only its appearance."

Since species grafts can be cybernetic, does that mean that a nanocyte can select and create a species graft augmentation as a major form?

By a quick reading, I assume only items in the categories listed, as it's a defined category and doesn't rely on random GMs defining what is and is not technology consistently across multiple SFS tables.

Biotech augmentations would be out, because there are four categories of augmentations (cybernetic, biotech, magitech, necrograft). The ability specifically only allows tech items. So only those augments in the technological/cybernetics section of a source book. it has to be in the cybernetic category.

If an item like a spidersatchel or crawling cord is under tech or personal items, it can be created by the ability. Even if it's technically organic in some way, it's still in the category of items able to be created.

Living is a weapon property, so while it's description implies otherwise, purely RAW with no other considerations - it's not a hybrid or magic weapon, it can be created by a nanocyte.

Armor upgrades and computers are not in any of the categories of items able to be made by a nanocyte, so they cannot be made with gear array.

Species grafts can be cybernetic, so a nanocyte can choose a cybernetic species graft as a form.
