Cayden Cailean priests have an intervention

Advice

Running a campaign right now and one of the characters has a drinking problem, One of the npcs is a priest of Cadyden that they interact with all the time and I made a joke about dragging their character to an AA meeting They sounded really excited about the idea so now I've got to run it. Question is does anyone have any ideas what the twelve-step program looks like run by a god of drinking and freedom?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

The steps would actually be similar, but the nature of the group would be fundamentally different. On Golarion, deities actually can and do directly help you; that means it wouldn't be a self-help group, but rather more of an ordinary religious congregation. The result would also be fundamentally different from real life: Cayden Cailean has the power to actually cure the addiction itself, meaning (unlike in real life), a recipent of CC's divine help would not be required to stay abstinent - quite the contrary.

I imagine recipents would be required to do something like this:

1. Admit to having a problem
2. Accept that CC is the right deity to help you
3. Pledge to live life according to the teachings of CC (do good, be brave, fight for a just cause, never surpress anyone, enjoy life)
4. Vow to drink as CC advertises (for merriment and socialization, not to drown sorrows) and to never act mean or hurtful when drunk
5. Pray to CC to cure your illness so you can go back to drinking with others
6. Help others like you had gotten help

Thank you so much for your input I really like your 6 step program!
