Hey all,
I've begun a new campaign and I'm planning on throwing some giant rats at my party, in the case that something goes horribly wrong and someone gets Filth Fever and would attempt to counteract (Cure) the disease would it be safe to assume that following or am I completely wrong.
Counteract Level for the Disease is 0
Counteract DC is 14
Counteract Level for the player would be 1
Counteract Modifier is +7 to the roll since the player is using the medicine skill.
It's been making me scratch my head since I decided to throw the rats at my players, also if my players succeed the DC after failing three times, they are still sickened even if they go to stage 1 as per the wording of the disease, and are Cured if they fight off the disease afterward.
Thank you in Advance

The counteract information you list for the disease seems to be correct.
Medicine skill, however, doesn't engage the counteract rules - those only come into play when you have something that explicitly says "counteract" such as magic.
What the medicine skill does is provide bonuses to the next saving throw the patient makes against the disease; so your medic with a +7 modifier would roll against the DC 14 of the disease and grant the patient a +2 (if successful) or +4 (if critical success) circumstance bonus to their next saving throw.
And yes, when you're dealing with stages of an affliction successful saves reduce the stage rather than cause an immediate recovery regardless of the stage you've progressed to.
